Stephen Curry Is The Revolution

So aside from the rare smothering, Curry seems fairly immune to defense.6He hits about 42 percent of the hardest quartile(ish) of his shots (specifically, the 28 percent with the closest defender less than 4 feet away),7or about 126 points per 100 attempts. In other words, if Golden State could replace its entire offense with just the bottom quartile of Stephen Curry’s 3-point attempts — without him ever being fouled and with them never collecting an offensive rebound — they would have the best offense in NBA history by a wide margin.

After a 7 hour deep dive into NBA.Com player tracking numbers, along of course with what I've gathered so far early on through observations here are my super early All Defensive teams:
1st team:
Tim Duncan -has been arguably the best rim protector in the league and is still very good defending opposing bigs plus manages to get back in transition somehow most times and rarely ever gets called for fouls.

Draymond Green - probably the best all around defender in the league and maybe the most versatile player in the NBA period. Really impressed with how much his shot blocking has improved. Never will be a vertical guy but has a very nice wing span and is putting it to use better than ever.

Kawhi Leonard - not much to say here. Absolutely dominant..

Paul George - great one on one defender but doesnt get enough credit with how smart he is at team defense. One of the few non bigs who anchors his teams entire defensive scheme. CJ Miles has been guarding opposing PFs a lot in small ball line ups and has done surprisingly well in that regard. But make no mistake, George is by far the best defender on the Pacers.

Avery Bradley - always has been great in spurts but still needed the necessary learning experience and concentration to be consistent. Seems like this year he has really turned the corner on both ends and is living up to his potential. That contract Ainge gave him a year ago may end up the new Mike Conley deal. Where people thought he maybe didnt deserve it at first but then ends up being a bargain.

2nd team:
Hassan Whiteside - his shot blocking numbers are unbelievable to look at.

Anthony Davis - great defender, terrible team. Probably the best in the league at balancing rim protection while still contesting jump shooters and guarding the opposing teams most dangerous bigs one on one.Derrick Favors does this really well too but he has Gobert next to him.

Andre Iguodala - his momentum has really carried over from the finals and after putting the clamps on LeBron he is really putting the fear of God into opposing players. No one has been able to score against him one on one. Always been a great defender but that psychological edge seems to have taken him to another level.

Kyle Lowry - I thought about putting Cory Joseph here but Lowry is w/o question the leader of this team on both sides of the ball. Always has been great at reading opposing schemes but is doing that better than ever. Last I checked he leads the league in steals. Also in the past bigger PGs have been able to take advantage of him one on one but he has been great one on one as well this season.

I dont know who the last guy is yet but those are the big 9 for now IMO

Gobert has to be in there. He's been the best rim protector up to this point.

Rim protection:

1st in total points adjusted points saved
1st in points saved per game
1st in raw points saved per 36
1st in deterrence percentage
1st in opponent FG% vs contested

It's what I keep telling these casual fans. Curry is rarely affected by defense, he makes or misses depending on his rhythm. The only way to actually defend him is to do what the Spurs did last season and have two taller perimeter elite level defenders absolutely deny and harass him even when he's on the bench.

@Brozay I told you Pau isn't feeling this Bulls team. None of the guards are in sync with him.

Oh, yeah I know. Its a near certainty. Ive been saying it for a while too

Part of it is the cap going up, and him be underpaid as it is under the current cap. Part of it is not fitting into Hoibergs offense

It sucks, but if he opts out, Noah walks, and we are able to free up some money, we'll be up to max money again to offer

Ya ur prob right, I'm a jazz bandwagoner so I've watched a lot of their games and I think my expectations were set a little too high for him. He is the best rim protector although Duncan and Whiteside are close but doesn't do much else defensively. Having another def ace like Favors really helps the Jazz.
Reminds me a bit of the Ibaka /Adams dynamic. Ibaka is a great rim protector but Adams is a superior post and roll man defender.

But still Gobert is allowing like 35% shooting at the rim which is like 20% below league average or something along those lines. That's pretty dominant
