He's not overrated.

Oh he most definitely is. He's a good defender and a great 3 point shooter, but he ain't shyt without Curry long term. He can have great stretches in games, but he's hardly ever been consistent.

but people in here told us he's already reached his full potential:sas1:....dude has the best midrange shot on the team now:heh:....shooting over 90% from the ft line lately. he's really becoming a COMPLETE player. just wait til the playoffs get here:demonic:

Whiteside is an excellent player, i hate the "whiteside's blocks don't really help his team narrative" he is excellent around the rim on offense and has been knocking down mid range jays all year not just recently. I would legit offer him a huge contract this summer if I was running an NBA team

With that said those numbers you posted are a result of increased playing time and more touches because of injuries to Bosh, not signs of actual significant improvement. Every player/person is different but research has proven that 27/28 is the prime age for most basketball players. The 5 year prime is usually 25-29, and the 10 year prime is 23-32. Because schemes on both ends are more complex than ever, the game is less physical and coaches rest players whenever possible and don't usually play guys as many minutes as they used, i think guys may stay in their "prime" for an extra year or two and begin playing their best basketball at around 24/25 (as opposed to 23). So ya whiteside should be one of the best centers in the league for another 5 years or so but i doubt he is going to develop ball handling skills, start shooting threes at a high rate and ever be anything better than a blackhole as a passer

Because Bogut is older and playing less and the warriors are playing the small line ups more as well as several other factors, their Defensive numbers are down from last year but its unbelievable how much better Draymond has gotten defensively, considering he was an elite defender last year already. I doubt he wins it but as of today he gets my vote, i would probably give Whiteside 2nd though at this point. Mostly out of spite for idiots in the media who misread his early season plus/minus numbers not realizing the tiny sample size and context. Gobert gotta be up there as well and of course Kawhi although I don't think he has been as good as some make him out to be on that end. I'm actually more impressed with his offense this year

I could really care less if a center develops ball handling skills or a 3 pt shot. I don't ever want my center shooting 3's....and hassan's ball handling ability is good enough....the other night he actually grabbed a rebound and ran a fast break all the way down court. and yes his numbers are due in large part to his increased role in the offense, but if you've seen him from the start of the season the dude has improved in pretty much every area of his game. defensive awareness, passing, post game, mid range, ft shooting, setting screens, off ball movement. bball iq. he's a much more polished player from the start of the season. he only has around 130 games in the nba so his game is still rough...there's no way it couldn't be with so little nba experience. but with his work ethic, the sky is the limit. i'll be more than happy to get 5-6 more years of greatness out of him.
