The real story is Flip gauged Thibs' interest last summer and Thibs wanted something more "ready-made" and told him to check back with him in a year.
Everything else in that article was all Windhorst talking.
What you and many others have failed to realize is, forget the coach. There's no GM.

But I don't think Dwight is the top of Danny's list and I can see Dwight or gasol basically being Danny's backup plans if he doesn't get horford or whoever

Didn't Thibs say he wanted to coach a team that's already a contender type deal? Or at least a playoff ready team, which, to be fair, Minny probably will be by next year as long as they do something worthwhile in the off-season.
