At this point MCW has more upside than Rubio who showed for at least a while in Minnie that a low post scorer alongside a non-scoring PG can work very well as long as he can facilitate well enough and play d. Minnie were a top 5 offense last year with Rubio and Love on the floor. Spacing only becomes an issue when a team can't field enough shooters to keep defenders honest and right now the sixers literally have none.
Considering the situation he was dropped into I think you're being unfair to him. Don't think a young PG has ever been expected to do so much on a team with no coherent system, no veteran leadership, no expectations, no weapons and no long term plan beyond stockpiling assets. And despite that his game gets derided when they're inevitably atrocious on the court. He's older than most sophomore's but his shot isn't completely unsalvageable even if he'll probably never be great. I'd want to see him in an actual offense where he can pick his spots and get a real feel for his shot before writing him off.
