The fallacy of all of this is that because of Adelman, Rubio hasn't really done much flashy shyt this season at all. He's actually afraid to do it now because every time he tries it, he gets yanked by Adelman to play JJ Barea.
and as for the jumper, well, since he's gone to a shooting coach for help, he's finishing better at the rim and is shooting 43% since the all-star break (which is HUGE for him).
And biggest fact: he's the only one in that starting lineup that plays defense. He's trying to play defense for 4 other people.
