Because the sumo deadlift usually allows for a heavier load to be lifted, this allows you to overload your muscles with more weight than they're used to handling.

According to Nippard, the “sumo deadlift is cheating” argument is contingent on two factors — that an athlete can lift more weight due to the setup and execution of the sumo deadlift, and that the exercise is advantageous due to its purportedly-shorter range of motion.

:unimpressed: No more cheating than a wide-grip bench with an arch.


99% of the same hoes (male and female) making that argument aren't seeing me on the platform, conventional or sumo. If the rules allow it, it's a legal lift.

thanks for the pointers

follow up Q: what should i search (keywords) to find a program that as you say hits every muslce group directly twice a week. i def do feel like i could do bench, squat, etc etc more than once a week. i feel like im motivated to find something better.

Well first you should bush JEF.

Besides that, you should just google whatever frequency for whatever you want to train: "programs bench three times a week" and go from there.


IN all honestly, you're not nearly advanced to be running programs that aren't designed for novices. But you'll do what you want. :yeshrug:

When they make videos/blogs, etc bytching about using a trap bar to do 5 full range controlled reps up to 405 of DL then farmer's carries/walk 20 yards then do it again to come back, I'll be concerned. Tell them I'll be waiting

When their trap bar deads and farmers walks finally allow them to break the measly 500 pound mark on a straight bar.

Jef will do for now. A routine I’ll use is better than one I won’t.

Once I get the hang of it (stronger) I’ll adjust. I’m a beginner and some shyt is made for beginners
