once I had purchased and taken a tab of acid on Haight St and made my usual walk from
Haight down to Market and up to the Embarcadero. While I was coming up I saw a drugged out shirtless crazy man who was absolutely clearing blocks of the sidewalk as he walked. I avoided him.
He got up to Embarcadero and got jumped by the skateboarding kids. They all ran around him in circles hitting them with his skateboard. He wasn’t a big man but in this moment if he was wearing one of those suits for digitial animation he would of played the part of Hulk being taken down by helicopters
I keep walking, I get to the water and enjoy a moment of peace
As I’m walking back at the top of Market Street I find myself alone on a block with this man. Everything inside of me said “do not show any fear”. He asked me for the water I was holding. I gave it to him. We talked for a second and he was calm. Then I saw the lacerations on his arm and I recoiled, repulsed and jumped back … “yo, do you need help. Do you need me to call an ambulance?”
He started flipping out “after what you did to me?!”
I started backtrotting and got out of there as he went in another direction
But I’m on acid, I’m wearing a tie dye shirt and tie die bandana (one of my thoughts on this trip was to never wear tie die again, I didn’t wanna be a walking cliche)… now I’m staring at the F3d3ral R3s3rv3 building, kind of entranced and this dude comes up to me and asked me a question about the building that could immediately get you in trouble, I immediately stopped speaking and moved away
Some of my most profound psychedelic experiences were in that city

Was in San Francisco in 2021, stayed in that area, and it was wild. Drug dealing and crime doesn't really phase me, but it was still rough.

edit: I was not really near that area, but I have been, actually way worse closer to the Proper Hotel. in 2017 I took a midnight walk through Soma with a date, and it was fine, but everyone knows Mission/Main/ areas are full of wild shyt at night. I had to turn around walking through the Tenderoin late one night, like what the fukk am I doing? I'm not bytch, but I saw full on homeless dudes smoking crack, lighting things on fire, and swinging them at each other, in like a crack induced frenzy. I kept saying don't be a p*ssy lol
people saying a hit? lol that area is full of drug addicted homeless/quasi homeless people, it's not a hit. People love the idea of a hit for some reason.
