Is it disrespect not to list him here though? I don't think so, it's not anything foul towards Nas directly, it's just an omission from being mentioned this time. There's been times Nas hasn't mentioned Rakim too but I don't feel that's disrespect either.

I know Nas is a humble dude. But if I was unanimously a top 3 rapper of all time, and then to be left out of the top 5 in only NYC by a dude I collaborated with, admired and got my style from, I woul feel blatantly disrespected

Because was Rakim was popping and Nas dropped illmatic hip hop heads started calling Nas the one. Rakim slowly started fading away even though he was dropping dope shyt and still had skills but everyone forgot about him because all the attention was on Nas

rakim was not poppin when illmatic came out.

rakim was already old school by then.

I don't think there's any disrespect from Nas or his fans towards Ra... it's the disrespect from Ra towards Nas that doesn't make sense

how did he disrespect nas?

by not putting him in his top 5? lol.

I know Nas is a humble dude. But if I was unanimously a top 3 rapper of all time, and then to be left out of the top 5 in only NYC by a dude I collaborated with, admired and got my style from, I woul feel blatantly disrespected

theres no such thing as a unanimous top 3 rapper. and nas certainly wouldn't be one of them.

and as far as an ny list goes, I hate to break it to yall, but nas is not a lock for top 5 NY rapper either.

expand your horizons brehs.

I don't think Nas is a unanimously top 3 of all time. I'm not sure anybody is unanimously, he's a great though of course. I'm not sure this list is a greatest of all time from N.Y list from Ra though, just seems to be titled that, seems to just be some artists he likes from N.Y.

Edit: Even if it was it's his own personal list, I don't think that's direspect.

When you consider greats such as...

KRS-One
Big Daddy Kane
Rakim
Nas
AZ
Cormega
Melle Mel
Kool G Rap
Kool Moe Dee
LL Cool J
Jay Z
Big Pun
Fat Joe
Slick Rick
Grandmaster Caz
Prodigy
Tragedy Khadafi
Talib Kweli
Immortal Technique
Pharaohe Monch
Big L
Jadakiss
Styles P
M.O.P
Wu Tang

And others are from N.Y some are going to be left out. It most of the time isn't personal just preferences.

To me you can't surpass an artist such as Rakim, because they are so great. You may supersede them in a list due to many factors but Rakim is the pinnacle of this shyt in many ways.

You can love a rapper without sucking them off too and going overboard with the stanning. I have Nas higher than Rakim too based off body of work etc (though Ra has a great body of work too) but there's a lot of great rappers from New York, everyone's titled to their list. When you list all the great rappers from N.Y it's huge, possibly the place where the most great rappers are from, people are gonna have their favourites and agree and disagree, no need to shyt on people because of it as long as it's with respect. Rakim respects Nas as an artist and likewise, who he has in his own personal list shouldn't effect anybody, people are going to have different artists, would be boring if it was all the same anyway. Nas is certainly a personal top 5 to me, but I wouldn't be angry if he wasn't included, I wouldn't be angry if any artist were not included actually cause there are so many great rappers. We don't need a backlash against Rakim cause of this lol.

I can only hope Nas is as hurt as his stans who have seeked Rakims approval for years:banderas:

Its not like Rakim has ever dikkrode Nas in any capacity that I remember,as much as media and fans tried to make that connection for years.....Maybe he just doesn't like Nas,does he even like G Rap:patrice:?

Not saying he doesn't have bad taste,i still remember that Juelz cosign like yesterday:mjlol:? And I was a Juelz stan, but irrc this was after Juelz had gotten kinda weak that Rakim came outta nowhere with the strong support:dahell:....This wasn't "From Me To You" Juelz:mjcry:

Nice to see the god mc is a fan of the god mc:sas1:
