Make business decisions for Rakim and put out an album nobody listened to where he did his best LL Cool J impression.
Didn't Rakim say that his experience playing the trumpet influenced his flow too?
it’s a mid read rakim retains his mystique and doesn’t go into detail much.Rakim's book is a dope read and touches on all of this.

Steal credits, just like Rakim did. I love Rakim. he's my favorite MC of all time, but the public should know that an 18 year old produced most of Let the Rhythm hit Em album while in high school and didn't recieve any credit for it. That same 18 year old ALSO produced 70% of Kool G Rap's Wanted Dead or Alive around the same time and had his credits stolen from him on that album too by Eric B(he was credited for a couple in the album credits). If you got to ask who othis 18 year old child prodigy was, then, you're absolutely not a hip hop headWhat did Eric B do?![]()
Eric B played Rakim with that album. It's been Known before he released the book. They had a record deal and they made an agreement that they would do 2 solo albums to complete their contract obligation. Eric B went first and Rakim signed off on it. When it was time for Rakim to do his solo album, Eric wouldn't sign off because Ra said he feared, he would leave him for good. That was a sucker move. That's why it was a 5 year gap from Don't Sweat the Technique until Rakim's first solo album in 1997I've never heard this before.
I probably should've kept it that way.![]()
He was the DJ. The manager etc…I didn't realize Eric B was a fraud.![]()
U can produce a record like quincy jones by orchestrating the process of the production. Puff shows up to the studio with completed beats, adds his "yea yeah" and puts his name as the producer. Telling someone to loop an 80s sample isn't producing a record. If I tell Primo I want him to loop a Tracy Chapman record for him, just a straight loop, show up and add my adlibs, that doesn't mean I produced it. Puff writes the checks, so he has the final say hahabu bu but.... according to Coli, its not producing if you cant loop the samples and basslines yourself..
At least that what y'all said about Puff.
I disagree.. Puff does more than that actuallyU can produce a record like quincy jones by orchestrating the process of the production. like what? I'm not saying you're lying, I just want to know. Puff himself says he doesn't know how anything in the studio works and he has no clue if someone is singing out of key. He can't produce vocals and harmonies. How does puff "produce a record"?I disagree.. Puff does more than that actually
