Rajon Rondo Appreciation Thread

Man I gotta give this dude his props. I've always been high on Rondo. Even back in 08 when they were trying to call him the weakest link.

Last night's game was a perfect example of just how good this dude is. What did he do? The regular. Another triple double. Another game of double digit assists (how many in a row?). He made big plays. Hit big shots. And as much as a liability as he is on FT line, he still preserved the win in the end by taking the inbound pass and using his athleticism to simply outrace the defense to run out the clock.

I'm declaring him an elite player. Top 10 in this league right now. And as far as PGs go I can only think of one I would take over him and that's my man Chris Paul.

Can Rondo get his props?

Rondo to me is the PG I would pick to lead my team. I don't care if he can't shoot the 3 the dude get's others the ball plays D and rebounds and he isn't injury prone.

He'll play through an injury. He was playing with a dislocated elbow last year in the playoffs. And still controlling the game.

I'm not talking about PGs like D. Rose, Westbrook who are basically converted shooting guards..

I'm talking real point guards like Magic, Isaiah, Kidd and Nash...

Rondo gets shyt on more than any other PG only because his jumper is and he can be inconsistent at times.

Isiah wasn't a pure point yet you put him on a pedestal and slight guys like the bolded Rose has always played the point and didn't become a scorer till he got into the league after his 2nd year he had to score. If anyone fits your distinction its Westbrook

Yeah D. Rose and Westbrook aren't really PGs IMO. They're D. Wade, AI, Steve Francis types. Undersized 2 guards who haven't been converted yet.

I agree that Rose is more of a pure PG than Westbrook. But PGs shouldn't be leading their teams in shot attempts. Especially by that far.

his usage rate, shot attempts, and points all fell last year if he has reliable options around him he wont look to score as much see his rookie year.
