Racial prejudice is driving opposition to paying college athletes. Here’s the evidence.

I don't view you as a representation of white people, I don't think they're all as stupid as you. Please don't view my statements as a representation of all black people. It's hilarious that you're using stereotypes, biases and generalizations to convince us that racism doesn't exist. Im one of the most chill, no

Poverty equals violence. Hmongs and vietnamese are the poorest group of asians and their communities have higher rates of violence compared to any other asian group. Blacks have the higher rates of poverty because of every effort on their part to create a strong, financially stable community has been destroyed by white americans. Black families have been targeted and destroyed. I have no reason to make excuses, my life has turned out fine and I don't need to make up boogie man theories of racism to justify my failures. These are facts.

Holy fukk, you are dense. You're either 15 years old, a racist cac or mentally retarded. I say all of the above. If you look at my post history you'll see I call everyone out on this site, militant delusional race baiting idiots included. Your post are deflecting from legit racism to point the finger at black people. No sensible person says there aren't problems with the black community but stop fukking deflecting from the issue. Why shouldn't college athletes at major programs be paid? Explain why, people with one of the rarest skillsets should be rewarded with minimum wage payment while the NCAA makes billions of dollars of their name and Image?

It's hilarious that you're using stereotypes, biases and generalizations to convince us that racism doesn't exist
Breh, Yall reading comprehension is terrible. Where did I say racism doesn't exist? I said on topic of this thread and specific points made within it that race or racism was not the factor or cause. LOL cmon dog. And I'm stating that mostly what you all whine is racism. Is not racism. I said its largely stereotypes or more of an issue how we are perceive.
Thats not saying racism doesn't exist.
Most of you clowns are on the side of every f*cking thing is about racism. Every thing! Me point that out as ridiculous clown negro talk is not saying racism doesn't exist at all lol

2)

Poverty equals violence. Hmongs and vietnamese are the poorest group of asians and their communities have higher rates of violence compared to any other asian group.
I agree with you on this and have said this many times myself.
Nevertheless the increase in violence within races between poor and their affluent are no where near as grave as in black communities. Do you not see or realize that bro?
The disparity in violence in black communities are far far worse than in any other community. Its not even close.
Yes violence increases in poor areas of whites or asians but again its no where near the level of violence in black precincts.
Name an Asian or White city as violent as Chicago? Or Baltimore? Or Philly or New Orleans or dozens and dozens or largely populated black cities. And the violence rivals 3rd world countries breh.
If you do not think this is a MAJORITY of reason why blacks are viewed so negatively in America. Then breh you're simply blind bro.

3)

Blacks have the higher rates of poverty because of every effort on their part to create a strong, financially stable community has been destroyed by white americans.
LOL you just argued that you don't take responsibility away but just literally blamed black poverty on White People! Lol you can't make this race baiting sh*t up.

So when a young black man (as an example out of many many examples) don't want to go to school, want to have kids they can't take care, don't want to get a proper education. Don't want to make themselves marketable for a skilled job. Want to push drugs and violence in their community. Thats the fault of the white man? Not this one individual who don't want to make sh*t of themselves? Or a lot of blacks who fit this exact example? So they can't make something of themselves b/c of the oohhhh scary white man
LOL cmon bro

Thats the difference between sensible fair minded folks like me and clowns like yall. I blame the person for their own issues. I don't blame other people. Its on US dog nobody else.
Why can't you see that?

4)

stop fukking deflecting from the issue. Why shouldn't college athletes at major programs be paid? Explain why, people with one of the rarest skillsets should be rewarded with minimum wage payment while the NCAA makes billions of dollars of their name and Image?
Cool I'm glad you back on topic. To answer your question directly. I'm conflicted. In some respects I think it is unfair and college athletes should be paid. But another part of the debate I find myself agreeing that it should stay the way it is. And understand that a lot of unintended consequences will come from trying to pay them. One thing I do believe is the option should be available for them to make money through other means outside of salary such as endorsements and merchandising.
Nevertheless whatever reason NCAA doesn't pay. It has nothing to do with RACE. Thats my point that got largely expanded to other topics.

Again the reason has nothing to do with race. Its money. And money only. If all NCAA college athletes were white (which at one time there were) they still wouldn't be getting paid.

The cognitive dissonance one must have being a racist. In the morning it's "bootstraps, don't ask for handouts, stop living on welfare, work for what you want, capitalism yes, socialism/communism bad, you are paid relative to the value you create, ceos get paid what they do because of market demand, etc.".....then at night it's "college kids don't deserve to get paid" even though their work brings in millions of dollars of revenue or "nba players are overpaid" eventhough their skill level makes them just as scarce as the same ceos they were just defending. High levels of cognitive dissonance. Blatant hypocrisy. I love arguing with these cacs in real life and making them look foolish. It's always the same face too :beli:

Yall sound like a bunch of clowns.

The typically crazy race baiting crap spewed everyday on the Coli.

A bunch a whining crybabies always crying about white ppl.

Ohh the white man this...oh the white man that. Oh this is racist....everything is about race to you clowns man.

Every college athlete could be white and they still wouldn't be getting salaries. Its about money, nothing to do with race.

At one time 99% of College athletes were white and they were not getting paid like professional.

I seriously do not know how you ignorant race baiting clowns live with your crazy a$% thoughts every day.

There is no debate about whether racism drives opposition to paying college athletes. Clearly it does:

"In a statistical analysis that controlled for a host of other influences, we found this: Negative racial views about blacks were the single most important predictor of white opposition to paying college athletes."

In other words, the more racist a person is against blacks, the more they oppose paying college athletes. White amateur athletes in most profitable sports get paid.

This comment (from the website comment section) completely validates my point (read the part where the authors admitted!)

Will you clowns admit you're wrong or just continue to ignore logic and facts and go corner cry about white ppl?!

Comment from Column
"
When they tested the effect of showing pics of black athletes on whites' opinions about paying college athletes, you'd have expected them to compare that to the effect of showing pics of white athletes. Instead, the control condition was one where no pics at all were shown. What this means that the effect they observed could have been just because they showed pics of athletes, regardless of their race.

L.J. Zigerell contacted the authors, and they admitted to him that they in fact also ran a condition where pics of white athletes were shown. See his write-up here. Opposition to paying athletes was not significantly different (p>0.05) in the "pics of white athletes" condition compared to the "pics of black athletes" condition. What this means is that there was a "pics of athletes" effect, but no "pics of black athletes" effect. That Wallsten, Nteta, and McCarthy omitted this finding from their article reflects very badly on them. Of course, if they had reported it, they'd have had no story.

"

This is not a persuasive argument against the study's conclusions. The control is valid. Whites were variously questioned about their opinion on paying players without a picture, which shouldn't necessarily elicit much racial bias, and then with a picture of a black player, which is presumed might elicit racial bias. The fact whites' average opinion changed by so much across a large amount of them presupposes that racial bias influenced decision-making in a substantial portion of whites. Moreover the fact the degree of racial bias was correlated with opposition to paying players is yet more proof racial bias has an influence on many whites' opinions.

The racism extends beyond collegiate athletes as well. Your typical white American has more of a problem with Black athletes signing million dollar contracts than they do Corporate America fleecing the country for everything it can. The spectrum of animosity varies according to the color spectrum of the sport. Cacs don't have the same level of animosity towards Hockey players and some Baseball players as they do Football and Basketball when it comes to salaries. To be even more clear, there's a reason a segment of them salivates at the thought of Boxing dying and MMA replacing it. It doesn't take a genius to figure out why, so long as one's being honest. I live in a Football and Hockey town, no professional basketball as these whites likely wouldn't support it. It's funny though when I talk with white colleagues during the time of the NBA playoffs, and they won't watch that with a few of them remarking on players being overpaid. Yet those same whites will be at the Consol with their Penguin jerseys during the regular season and playoffs, with not one thought on player salaries.
Hockey players work hard. You know how hard it is to play in pads? It's about skill, not natural athleticism. You can't be lazy and be good

You make some good points Roddy Right. The only thing I don't think you considered is that the group was also shown and asked the same question with a white athlete on the picture. And the percentage was exactly the same as ones that were shown a Black Athlete (in terms of non-support for college pay).

So reasonable individuals would surmise that the increase in non-support had to do with being shown ANY photo of an athlete (white or black) and that it had nothing to do with race and/or prejudices towards blacks.

Breh this nikka been a member since 2012 and only has 80 somewhat post prolly half of them in this very thread :heh:

What the point of arguing with a coward that had to log off his already anonymous main account to spew more nonsense with his alias:heh:

Brehs I didn't mean nothing negative about "Reasonable individuals". Yes I do believe most blacks that see everything through a racism prism are not "Reasonable" or fairminded individuals. I can go on and on. Every single topic brought up for discussion, blacks always throw in race or racism. Again to me yall folks are not reasonable or fair minded.

Secondly, this is the only account I've ever had going back since the old unnamed forum. I'm more of a lurker. I don't need to post threads or post all day everyday like yall dudes.
Same thing with social media. I read and learn more than posting. I rarely post and when I do its because I'm outrage at ignorance.

Carry on brehs....

I will have to see this info to assume it's true. The study didn't publish any information on this comparison.

should they take away academic scholarships too because people were born smart and will likely end up being rich doctors, lawyers and bankers?
you're completely misunderstanding what im saying
IF you are going to pay athletes, then why should they get scholarships? You would essentially be paying them twice
