Racial prejudice is driving opposition to paying college athletes. Here’s the evidence.

you're completely misunderstanding what im saying
IF you are going to pay athletes, then why should they get scholarships? You would essentially be paying them twice
i hear you but it's irrelevant in my opinion.

regular students can have jobs, ON campus as research assistants, teaching assistants, student council ....even working as janitors or in food courts. These people are free to have scholarships and if anything their scholarships may aid in their consideration for such roles. Why can they be paid twice but student athletes cant?

meh. they would get paid good money because they bring in a lot of money.
everything is relative

playing for a football season (athlete) is going to yield more revenue than a class for a semester (teaching assistant) which is going to yield more revenue than the campus burger joint (fast food worker).

and in the odd case that you have a high schooler coming in with a 3.7-4.0 GPA and was a great 5 star prospect...if anything he deserves a bigger scholarship than anybody including your regular 4.0er. That's just my take. I think the paradigm is one of mutual exclusivity
