One of the benefits of watching
The Tonight Show is getting to see how many hip-hop references The Roots can sneak onto national television. Usually it involves the band performing songs in and out of the commercial breaks or introducing guests, but this one was a bit less obscure.
Right after Fallon delivered his monologue, he tossed to The Roots for an interlude. They took that opportunity to pay tribute
to fallen rapper Sean Price to the the tune of Price’s
“Onion Head.” The set itself was short and sweet, but it was twenty seconds you wouldn’t be getting from Kevin Eubanks or Paul Shaffer.
