thanks god. u know if tip gets on the mic bout the situation?
No, there was another DJ, I think Tip decided to sit this one out and just let the music speak for itself. Heartfelt moments from people all over the field in Hip Hop. I was impressed what Andre 3k said about Tribe. I think the show may have been mixed together from a previous one. Because a few months ago, Q Tip did do a tribe retrospective. A lot of this was very similar to this from what I recall.

Those Jarobi posts on IG had me :to:

This is weirder than I thought it would be. The amount of props/love that we've been seeing online is crazy.
for real. you can tell these aren't just the typical generic "he was a good man" statements, these dudes are really broken by this. the words they are saying let you know phife was legitimately a great man who impacted everybody he met.

Real talk can somebody tell me what really went down between Tip and Phife that the group stopped doing music together permanently#ripphifedog

I think the documentary actually captures it pretty well. Tip became the dude who kinda assumed the role of leader, and he kinda went in on Phife when he moved to Atlanta, thinking that he should stay close by to work on the music. I think Phife kinda resented Tip for that and felt like he was always liked at as the sidekick and not an equal. There was a scene where they were performing on the rock the bells tour, and Phife got heated over a diss he thought Tip threw at him on the mic during the show.

first time i ever hear Tribe was on Wayans Bros re-runs..was around the time i was getting more into hip-hop.

was watching it at my aunts with my two cousins. one my age and the other a few years older.
i said i liked the song and the older of the two cousins who was looked at me baffled and said it was Tribe.

went to his room got the tape, came in and damn near threw the cassette at me.
i didn't quite get into the album until years down the line but i would listen to on loop for days when i heard it..used to walk around saying

"I like em brown, yellow, Puerto Rican or Haitian"

anyway, going back to the Tribe albums since and its crazy how you can consider yourself a fan and yet ultimately still underrate someone.
listening a little more intently when Phife would come on and he just stands out a little more now..i guess its the curse of being in a group.

i'm sure its been pointed out but how he starts a verse >
