I liked RnB more when I was in elementary school in the 90s than rap. But I did love Outkast.
What I loved about Kast was that they brought in so many funk influences with their music. I wish more musicians incorporated live instruments in their music. It just sounds so much richer and lush. shyt these cats don't even know how to play instruments nowadays.

I'm bout to break the rep button in this thread. ALL facts :wow:

Sometimes I think The Lounge doesnt get much traffic cause the majority :mjpls: userbase here cant fake the funk/vulture with R&B/Soul like they can everything else. This Rafters worthy thread just reaffirmed it, :salute: OP

Some more jams:

I don't think it fair to call Peter Rosenberg a vulture. He's been a part of of the culture for a long time.

With that said.

As much as I want soul and r&b to be apart of the hip-hop fabric kids these days I don't identify much with it or I should say its less essential. They longer have an ear for traditional Black music as it were save a few here and there and it's reflected in the music and in the style.

I agree to an extent ..

I dont think ive ever met a white person that's into RNB like that, or soul from back in the days. Tbh I was born in 91 but was on 90s RNB heavy and only listened to older stuff as I got older, after I got into hip hop. Really, majority of the soul that's in hip hop comes from these era's in the past.

That really made me think though, I genuinely maybe know one white dude that listens to this old soul shyt like that but listen to mad hip hop. you find out they're fraud when they start playing cornball CAC music from the 80s in the office like its fire. Maybe a few white girls that like RNB but that new trash Beyonce and Tinashe slut music shyt.

This shyt gives me goosebumps. :wow:

MC Eiht did it justice.

:whew:

You can't be a hip hop fan and not like the music that's derived from it. That's why this new age Hip Hop ain't shyt. The cats that came up in the 70's and 80's were listening to their parents music and that heavily influenced the music that they made as youth.
