I think if you made it to your 30's mid 30's with no kids ,drama etc That you have mastered the dating game.

A relationship can have drama or headaches.You gonna have some issues.Bottom line being in mid 30's and if you date a younger woman (let's say 26-27) gonna be headache.Age gap,you two might be different spots in life.Drama is the breakup

anything u do in there will look like ur trying too hard to impress her, which can drop her attraction.

So he can use the gym as a way to establish a rapport since he says she’s in shape. I don’t see anything wrong with it. Especially if he’s on top of his fitness game himself. Its not something to be overly deliberated by, but begs the question maybe transposing the interest into another position by accompanying her in other ways like convo outside of class where I can actually get to know more than gym I suppose. Bc really that can be my time to shine and if she wants to workout together then so be it.
