People who are saying Anti is trash don't know good music when they hear it today. I'm not a Rihanna fan at all and I don't listen to her outside of her hits and a few cuts I've heard here and there over the years. She's always been solid enough to keep the surface level of my attention entertainment and music wise. Overall, even though I can't say I've listened to her other projects in depth, I've heard enough to hear a leap of growth you don't really hear in artists creatively at all. It's so forward it's almost shocking and it makes you want to cheer her on because you see someone that took their time. People were rushing it and she wasn't rushing it for a reason. She wanted to make a statement and she did. Even all the weeks and months leading up to the release, I could care less about Anti. In fact, I couldn't understand why people kept asking for it.....I didn't think it was anything special for people to even be sweating it like that. Honestly, It's good. You can be a Hip Hop fan and still appreciate this without it somehow taking a hit at your masculinity or credibility. Being a Hip Hop head in every sense of the word is being musically inclined. There are so many elements of music....rhythm, harmony, tone...everything all into one. You have to have a good ear....and if you are a hip hop head, you also know hip hop heads are eclectic and we have a lot of deep weird funky tastes that nobody would guess. This is not a discussion about the validity of your taste in music, but it is a statement about how an artist has captured mine unexpectedly. I think many others feel the same.
