I can't be a PC gamer ONLY. There's always going to be exclusives and third party games that don't get made for PC. PC gaming I use for most multiplats, emulation and everything else.
Next gen consoles probably won't even have cards in them that can compare with a 660ti let alone a 680. the thing about consoles is they're closed box so they can optimize the shyt out of the games for them. PC games aren't optimized like that.
i don't know what you're planning but i'd get at least one next generation console even with a GTX 680.
Go ahead with your plan and I bet by 2016 you will be @ the fact that you spent $450 on a card and don't want to spend much more at that time to keep playing in high detail. Then take a look over at a $150 card and see it get smoked by benchmarks @ guru3dwill most likely cop a PS4 at launch or wait a year until the library builds up or until Uncharted 4 drops.
I don't see what the problem is copping a 680 and then recopping another (whatever will be its modern day equivalent) 7 years from now. Those $150 cards are garbage at the moment
@ 2020 being 7 yrs from now tho....... existence is moving too fast...seems like 2000 just hit

The only advice I have when it comes to building a rig is to basically review this spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...AvaYhPmP5kwadHZsOW 9 QVFRkZEpzcUplak5zZFUyYncGo ahead with your plan and I bet by 2016 you will be @ the fact that you spent $450 on a card and don't want to spend much more at that time to keep playing in high detail. Take a look at the 7850 which comes with a free copy of bioshock infinite and tomb raider right now for $165 after MIR. Great card. If you pick the right card for around $150 it will run everything in high detail @ 1080P. Especially if you overclock. You are new to this rookie, you have a whole lot of learning to do. Get at @Kodie if you want anymore ideas to keep your rig relatively high end on the cheap.
@2gunsup and @Malta are beasts who drop major cash on their rigs...ask them for advice if you wish but be prepared to open up that wallet
7 years ? shyt will be mediocre and then obsolete waay before then.
I bought a pretty good card 7 years ago, not 700 dollar high end or anything but still it was worth nearly 300. it was obsolete in 3 years or so. I dont think I can play a single game worth a damn on it nowadays.
7 years is just a huge chasm in technology. once new technology comes out your shyt will be obsolete. and since your goal is to be consistently in that high end graphics spectrum, youll be ing.
you are in for a rude awakening in 2-3 years.my goal is to just run with consoles in the future, not high end PCs, i'll eventually recop another card but I just wanted summin to last me a while
TES is not really my cup of tea. skyrim held me for like 10-15 hours or so if that, shyt got mad boring once the novelty of exploring wore off...and story, quest and battle system all sucked. morrowind is prolly my favorite TES game along with daggerfall and even then I wouldnt put it anywhere my favorite games...

so I prolly wont be playing that
