Atlanta shooting 38.5% from 3 and making 15 of them doesn't tell the whole story about NY's defense. The defense was excellent because it turned Atlanta into 3-point chuckers. NY gave up 15 threes, but on a chucking 39 attempts (12.4 more than Atlanta usually attempts) and pretty much nothing else other than 2nd chance points and free throws (which was more the refs than NY — all those techs from 3 sec and delay of game violations inflated their free throws, otherwise teams don't shoot free throws against them like that anymore — 21 opp fta's in their last 16 games including last night). No points in the paint, no fast break points, nothing. And 3's will stop falling late because you won't have the legs to keep making them, especially if you attempt as many as the Hawks did last night. Atlanta on shot 28.6 on 3's in the 4th and missed their last 2, and those 2 ended up being crucial misses that could've given them a chance to win.

On another note give Melo credit every time some player seems to want to try to punk KP cause he made them look bad Melo is the first one in their face telling them to fall back.



He's not going to give these lesser players a chance to try to make KP shook on some "welcome to the NBA" tip

See stuff like this reflects good coaching. Fisher has legit problems he needs to improve on but I haven't called for his head yet because a lot of coaches and GM overload on Talent and that can't mesh due to Chemistry (the Rockets) and you get what the Knicks had for years. Bloated salary Rosters with probably the same record (or worse) than the Knicks have now. The Knicks sniffing .500 and already having 17 wins is legit growth.

Maybe it's due to Caughlin leaving but I like to see some discipline on a NY team. It's usually the first sign of eventual success.
