Well the Olympics does solidify one fact though, Melo is a pretty fantastic spot up shooter and has been one for a while now, and would benefit from more catch and shoot opportunities. He ain't gotta have world class talent around him, just someone who can generate some easy opportunities and an offense geared towards threes, and you gotta admit NY hasn't had either for the last few years.

before I hit post reply I realized I basically just regurgitated everything that was said in the video that was posted a few pages back :russ:

All he does is shoot 3's in the Olympics anyway...that "playing with talent around him" is silly logic especially when you're talking about every player being one of the best at their position in the world...plus it's a short period of games where they should be blowing every team out regardless anyway. So that's all moot IMO.

And you bringing up Lebron is a sign of the insecure, hurt Melo fan. Who cares about Lebron? Not me. It's apples and oranges anyway. The point is - getting excited or upset about stats and all in the Olympics and using it as an indicator is a little ridiculous to me.

Like somebody just said, Melo, playing this well at age 31 shows that his game won't fall off terribly like some of you have been saying for the past 2 f*cking seasons. Melo never relied on his athleticism.

And how is playing with great talent silly logic? When Melo doesn't have to do every cot damn thing, and isn't the main target of the opponents' defense, he can thrive.

Watch the ball breakdown video again, fam, it breaks it down perfectly.

Not even trying to hate cause Olympic Melo is a hell of a player but he's playing stretch 4 (KP is gonna be the 4 in NY) and he is on the clearly more talented team in each of these games. Nothing from these games should be taken as a given when talking about Melo and his future.

Not to nitpick, but I think we'll see plenty of Melo at the 4 and KP at the 5, especially if the team wants to help keep Noah healthy through the season and for the playoffs. I expect to see a line-up of Rose(or Jennings)/Lee/Lance/Melo/ and KP a lot over the course of the season.

Edit: and furthermore, I just can't see Hornacek looking at Melo's play now, and how he played his best season as a stretch 4, and not try to incorporate some of that into the offense now. Of course it's not a given, but Hornacek is an analytics driven type of coach, and a bit more clever on the offensive side of things than our last few coaches, so I think it's reasonable to assume that he'll at least try to do some of the things we're seeing now.

It means something when you're the best player AND leader of a team composed of the best players in the world :salute: Period.

I'm not on either extreme in terms of the debate you were in. Maybe bro was giving too much credit and you weren't giving enough... I'm just here to provide that balance.
