Len, the 4, and the 13 ... that is a HAUL.

You're looking at some combo of Chriss/Dunn/Bender/Heild/Murray... and Korkmaz/Skal/Davis/Luwawu... all that PLUS Alex Len is a pretty significant bounty.

I would have very hard time making an argument AGAINST this deal, even with questions about Len's development, and whether you can play him with Porzingis. He has thrived as a 4, but KP is a stretch 5 in the perfect world.

Not even gonna front, as much as I love Melo, the idea of rooting for a super young homegrown team with crazy upside and potential (a better version of the Magic) intrigues the fukk out of me.

Going into the tank with Buddy Hield or Kris Dunn in hand, a ton of caproom and a strong draft class approaching is a really intriguing prospect. But it's a lot of "eh" assets being thrown at us instead of a couple of great assets for a couple of quality pieces going out. I'd prefer to hold RoLo and sell at the trade deadline if we moved Melo for a full-on tank. Plus, I've gotten more and more convinced that Phil has zero interest in tanking or even taking his time with the build.

edit: lemme add a disclaimer, Alex Len is a pretty cool prospect but early injuries make his value questionable.

Phil isn't here for the long term, so I think we can put that tank talk to rest.

Melo is never gonna agree to go to Phoenix tho

Yo there are WAY TOO MANY stories in the media lately about how the Knicks should trade Melo.

Melo has said a billion times he ain't going nowhere.

It's like there's some sort of conspiracy to gin up media hype so this trade becomes a reality.

It's suspicious as fukk, b.

Or maybe it's because trading him is the right, logical thing to do

Yeah I only really see him going to Cleveland in a deal like that.

Melo to Cleveland makes no sense. Him & LeBron play the same position, and LaLa isn't moving to the bum ass Midwest. Only real options would be the Clippers or Miami, and neither team has the cap space to make that work. And then their is also the fact that Melo DOESN'T want to leave NY, which is totally lost on a lot of people making all these trade scenarios.

Yeah, I want Melo to remain a knick throughout the remainder of his contract but the next two years are definitely important. I kinda look at him like I look at Eli. The Knicks nor the Giants have had good rosters. You give them some weapons and we'll be competitive. As a homer, I truly believe when he's been in the playoffs with the Knicks, he's played some tough teams but those teams have also gotten better calls than the Knicks. Hope Phil can put real talent around him not the garbage we had this season.

If we could get Skal or Korkmaz, I'm down to part with RoLo. I think they'd be gone though. I really like Malachi Richardson in that case. But if we could keep RoLo and instead push for 28 where we can grab a Thon Maker to develop; I think I'd prefer that. RoLo would be a deadline mover for 2017 assets in that case. I really think after this FA session, his contract will be viewed as extremely valuable (especially on a tanking team where his numbers might get an even bigger boost than they already got to close our past season).

I think the New York media needs the Knicks to be bad or something. I don't get it

It's ridiculous.

Melo doesn't want to leave.
He said he's not leaving.
And this draft class isn't good enough that the Knicks would get anything worthwhile in return.

Plus trading him would almost certainly set back KP's development.

I feel like this is some sort of conspiracy where the Knicks want out of his contract or something and they're pressuring people to stir up trade hype.

Positions are fleeting, doggie. Don't get caught up in 1,2,3,4,5. Melo and LeBron played beautifully together on Team USA. Plus Melo is actually best at the 4 now, anyway, and LeBron still operates mostly from the wing.

LeBron at the 3, Melo at the 4, Thompson at the 5 in s small-ball style death lineup, with Kyrie and another defender on the floor. Let it rock and expand your mind. :ohhh:

And why are we talking about LaLa, man? It's not like being in new york has opened up a bunch of job opportunities - so she can live anywhere, and still be Melo's wife, hell, she could even stay in new york. Plenty of players keep their families where they're comfortable during the season.

Oh yeah, his contract is already very valuable. And I think Skal, Korkmaz, or Luwawu will be there at 13. Those are REALLY good values.

Anyway, this deal is of course a pipedream, but it's a nice pipedream that lines up with where this team should be looking. Which is a nice change of pace.
