I couldn't see Durant in NY.

Without a Pg and without an un-crowded position for him to play.

:yeshrug:

To be quite honest, I'm hoping Phil shows off his savvy by not pursuing this dead end that would end in Durant not even looking at NY and focus on locking up other players who get slighted by other teams' pursuit of Durant.

I'd rather wait for Westbrook in 2017 than go for Durant now. This team needs a PG in the worst way. :yeshrug:

I agree with this, also.

As much as the criticism is going to grow regarding Westbrook's decision making... I'm still a big fan of his on court fire and unapologetic attitude mixed in with his insane play.

I can't think of any person who'd restore the Garden's intimidation factor besides Cousins, Lebron James, or.. actually, thinking about it, there are no real truly intimidating players in the league.

Being an opposing team coming into the Garden during a playoff game with R. Westbrook in Supersaiyan mode would be scary as shyt. That's how they need to sell it to him.

Restore the fukking Garden, Russell. And make them fear us, again. - From Knicks Fans :ohlawd:

Westbrook, ?, Melo, Porzingis, ?.

No chance for Kd. We'll end up with mostly third tier free agents again :mjcry:

Gotta be smart about it though. The knicks haven't been to the playoffs in 3 seasons and don't have the most money to spend. They need to take a legit step forward this year and make the playoffs. The best chance they have to do that is by filling in a need at SG. The top SG's aren't coming here though because of the reasons I already mentioned earlier. So if I was Phil I would go after a RFA SG's (who can shoot) with an offer their team won't match. My top 2 are Fournier and Allen Crabbe.

I think Crabbe is really gettable (12-14 mil) and he looks like he might be on a career upswing. He put 20 pts up on a lot of top tier teams as a 3rd or 4th option and he's shown that he can be productive off the ball. In a line up of Wroten, Melo, and KP he would likely be the 3rd or 4th option here too

Crabbe legit seems like the type of player that if he goes somewhere else. We'll be here a season from now complaining about why the knicks didn't pick him up. He might evolve into a more dynamic Danny Green offensively, but an avg defender. He won't shut people down, but he won't stop and stare as they go to the hoop either. I like Crabbe to because if they get him they should still have enough to add another player.

I also think if the knicks go all in for Fournier with a Max the Magic might blink (though they may legit offer him the max themselves) . Fournier can shoot, would work great if put in the Dragic role in Hornecek's offense, but his defense is bad, and will likely stay that way. His defense would likely look better in NY if he has KP and Rolo guarding the paint, but he could also just get abused on Defense like Afflalo did. I say that because his whole career arc screams young Afflalo, but his youth is the big difference between the two

If he turns out though, He could be like a younger Dragic for the knicks on a similar deal that old Dragic has, and it wouldn't have cost them 2 future first like Dragic did.

Man I'm hoping the knicks can make Wroten/Grant work for the foreseeable future with an added SG. So they then go after Gordon Hayward in 2017. Like looking at the 2017 FA there are a lot of great PG, there are also a lot of good PG's in that years draft.

Getting Hayward would let them play small ball and they could keep RoLo as a Big to go when a Big lineup is necessary. He's also not a superstar (i don't think the knicks will be able to pull that in 2017 unless they way overachieve this year) so the knicks could offer a guy like Hayward a playoff team in NY plus the best player he would ever be team mates with in KP.
