Side note Vogel is suppose to be at the Chicago combine.... I'm surprised no one at the media has written an article about it.

“Every person that’s in the NBA should experience playing in New York at least once in their career,” Smith gushes, in a video interview with Vice Sports. “To play at the Mecca of basketball and the Garden every night, it’s probably the greatest decision I’ve ever made to go to New York.”

JR still loves NY, hopefully other players listen.

2nd round picks are easily had. They'll buy a second or two. Phil turned no picks into three picks two years ago.

But the real headline here, as it has been - should be this: The Knicks are probably not going to be good next season. Which is okay, because this team is rebuilding.
Melo needs to stop the charade then.

Obviously a rough translation but, looks like Willy is on his way on a reasonable deal for the next 4 years. So we got the Knicks seeking a second rounder, signs that Willie is on his way...looks like the youth movement will continue and the slow and steady will continue as well. Buckle up folks, the kids either take leaps or we need patience barring Melo having another post-Olympics season AND KP turning into a 82 game star. This is what I've been on for a while though, just keep building and developing without Melo's window worrying you. Offer reasonable contracts that are likely to be turned down to the stud FA's and work your way down but prioritize young cats like Crabbe, Fournier and Powell (would love Bazemore but I'm skeptical that he'll have a reasonable price tag). If Melo waives his NTC, you're in perfect position to tank and if not, you've got a puncher's shot at the post season but you've got a developing roster regardless.

Side Note: Skiles just quit on Orlando, so there's more competition for coaches but also another solid coach on the market. Blatt's my guy but wouldn't be mad at most other options not named Rambis (keep Mark Jackson away), especially not Vogel.

I know Mark doesn't have much of a shot because he's not a Phil guy, but why don't you want him?

There are similarities to Fisher that I don't like. He was a great motivator but X's and O's were weak; his team underachieved (would be debatable if Kerr didn't follow him and immediately create a dominant team); he had a ton of issues with management and apparently even his staff; and then there's some alleged stuff that was never confirmed or fully refuted. Some ish about him turning players against management and his pastor stuff being a distraction. I'm not putting too much weight in those but they're red flags combined with the rest. I think there are much better options and the last thing we need is another coach with poor X's and O's who has a penchant for beefing with management.
