Victim of Racism
I'm a brehette
Do you think the players have given up on Fisher? Think about, we're halfway into the season & dude STILL doesn't have a set rotation. Plus that whole "process/playoff" noise probably turned some players off.
The team may just be tired, but it's possible, and I'd take Lue over Blatt. Blatt was trash. People who cape for him are so blinded by racist media propaganda (who is only yapping because the Afrikan took the Euro's place) that they can't see that having the most talented roster in the Association and Lj averaging nearly a triple-double in the Finals was the reason for their success, not Blatt's masterful ability to call time outs that he didn't have in playoff games.

The one common denominator that most (not all) elite teams have over NY isn't better coaching — it's more talent and more players that fit the system they want to run. One quick example: I love D-Will because he's a shot-maker, but he's literally as terrible outside of the paint as Lj — they're both shooting 32% from there (NBA.com/Stats — hit the circle in the right hand corner and select "basic view"), making him a horrible Triangle fit because one major component of the Triangle is that it gets you a lot of midrange jumpers, just like the Spurs' version of the Triangle, so just going to the rack isn't enough because come playoff time, teams will zone up.
I know it's unpopular to critique Phil's moves as an exec, but he didn't choose the right players for his offense; only 4 players are efficient on midrange shots. To compare: Eight of the Spurs are efficient on that shot. The Spurs didn't bring in LMA and D-West because they're "stars" — they did it because those 2 are great midrange shooters. The GSW's version of the Triangle gives you 3's; eight of the players on the team are efficient from 3. So, I'd make roster moves before a coaching change and I think come the offseason, Phil will get great fits for the offense, catapulting NY to impressive-status immediately. He could still make moves before the deadline too. I just believe in Phil as a b-ball mind and I believe his coaching choice was excellent. I can't see him firing Fish (who will run the Triangle Phil wants?), but stranger things have happened.
