Yea the more I listen the more I like it. Tracks like “ Just So You Remember” and “Dreamin Of The Past” really grew on me. I purposefully didn’t listen to Hear Me Clearly and Neck & Wrist more than 3X cause I knew I would play them out before the album. There clear standouts to me. Think the Hov verse should’ve been a surprise first listen reveal imo. That beat goes so hard in the whip. Pharrell really put his foot in this project. Some of his most hard hitting production.

I think lyrically this might top Daytona. I feel like Benny album is similar with cohesion but Push is clearly the superior lyricist and emcee. The only really blemish on the album is the Uzi track which isn’t wack but feels out of place. Malice had the best guest spot and I’m going to lose sleep wondering how Nas would’ve sound on Hear Me Clearly..

After more listens.
Amazing: Brambleton (best song on the album), Smokers Coupes, Diet Coke, Open Air

Good: Dreamin of the Past, Neck & Wrist, Just You Remember, Rock n Roll, Pray For You

Weak: Call My Bluff, Hear Me Clearly

Filler: Scrape it off

Very solid album. Give it a 4.0 out of 5. Kanye is totally washed as a rapper though, never wanna hear a feature from him again.

Hear me clearly is dope as all fukk

@Awesome Wells Explain to this cat, please.

Truth.

Kanye's at a point in his career now, where can he just walk in the room and get a co-production credit. Don Cannon spoke about it before with the track he did for Pusha. He did the entire beat for "Numbers on the Boards", 88 Keys threw some screaming on there, and Kanye told him to add the Jay sample. But didn't touch anything on the beat at all. But when I copped the vinyl, it said Kanye produced the record, lol. That's how it goes sometimes.

The negatives.

The artwork for this album is TRASH

Whomever did the mixing on this album over did it with the joker laugh sound effect (Made this album feel mixtape-ish)

Scrape it off the top is a 100% filler song

Both Kanye verse were useless.
Yea it was obvious Scrape it off Top was there for the Gen Z demographic

Honestly the only thing I don't like isn't even on the album: it's Pusha's Scorsese comparison. He's made it a few times but no one has checked him on it. Scorsese is one of the greatest directors of all time and his RANGE is a major reason why. He's not just the gangster movie guy and that's not why people go see his movies. His arguable best films, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull, aren't gangster movies. He has classic comedy movies (King Of New York, After Hours), classic music movies (New York, New York), classic epic films (Last Temptation Of Christ) and a host of other classics from Cape Fear to Silence. He's one of the greatest directors ever and the diversity of his films is amazing.

Would I want to hear Pusha talk about life, the death of his parents, being a dad etc? Sure. While the lack of diversity certain hurts him in terms of how I'd view him all-time compared to greats, the music is dope and I think he should just say hey this is the shyt I'm interested in. If Scorsese was only interested in making gangster pictures that's what he would have done, but he didn't. If you're only interested in coke and luxury brags raps...just say it. There's nothing wrong with that if the music is dope!

Agreed on the artwork, I hope he releases a deluxe version of something with a new album cover

I actually like Kanye's part on Rock N Roll

Agree with your other two points

4.5/5 for me

Havent finished it yet bit off first listen this is the best he's sounded since Darjest Before Dawn to me. Opening with Brambleton strictly for the hometown folk is hard as fukk:

"Beach nikkas wanted work that they could move out quick/but my Norfolk nikkas they was on some shootout shyt"...

Those bars aptly encapsulate the difference in vibe between how Beach nikkas conduct business and how Nfk nikkas conduct business...

For those who don't know, Brambleton is a hood out the East Side of The Shark directly west of NSU. East Side Norfolk is wild in general and it's one of the wild spots...

As far as the Scorsese thing i think the main difference is the separation of work, Pusha would potentially be able to pull off an album with a deeper tone or different than his usual theme but if hed attempt to sneak in a track about loss at the end of his album the way Jay used to do at the end of some of his 90s work on IAD I feel it would just sound out of place. He is such an EVIL genius with raps that he would just need a seperate album for that. You cant sound like the perfect cold killer swagged out drug dealer and lament about missing your folks for the rest of your life on the same record, just dont think it works.

He has a tiny bit of variety on his past work but i think he looks at the Scorsese comparison mostly or only for his murderous vibe that they share in their art.

If you think about it - he inverted this trope. He starts off the album talking about his bredrin who he doesn't fukk with anymore and ended it by reuniting with his blood brother :ehh:
