LOS ANGELES, CA – Although Chuck D recently said Flavor Flav would have one year to “get his act together,” Public Enemy has just announced he’s no longer part of the groundbreaking Hip Hop group.

In a statement sent to HipHopDX, Chuck D and company made it abundantly clear their time with Flav has come to end.

“Public Enemy and Public Enemy Radio will be moving forward without Flavor Flav,” the statement reads. “‘We thank him for his years of service and wish him well.”

ublic Enemy Radio — Chuck D, DJ Lord, Jahi of P.E. 2.0 and the S1Ws — are performing at the Bernie Sanders rally in Los Angeles on Sunday (March 1), which proved to be a point of contention for Flav. His legal team quickly issued a statement, blasting Public Enemy’s involvement (despite it being billed as a Public Enemy Radio performance).

On Sunday morning, Chuck tweeted the “last straw was long ago.”

“It’s not about BERNIE with Flav,” he said. “He don’t know the difference between Barry Sanders or Bernie Sanders he don’t know either. FLAV refused to support @Sankofa after @harrybelafonte inducted us. He don’t do that.”

The free Public Enemy Radio event is being held at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the group taking the stage at 6 p.m. local time.

Along with the announcement, Public Enemy Radio also revealed a new album called Loud Is Not Enough will arrive next month.

The Public Enemy Radio performance can be viewed via livestream here.

"Flavor chooses to dance for his money and not do benevolent work like this…He has a year to get his act together and get himself straight or he’s out."

According to Rolling Stone, one of Chuck D’s lawyer added more context, saying:

"From a legal standpoint, Chuck could perform as Public Enemy if he ever wanted to; he is the sole owner of the Public Enemy trademark. He originally drew the logo himself in the mid-80s, is also the creative visionary and the group’s primary songwriter, having written Flavor’s most memorable lines."

Just because he didn’t agree with support of Sankofa and Harry Belafonte you fired him

that’s petty

and sending a cease and desist letter for a free benefit/concert, of which Flav has ALWAYS no showed and never did anything about it. But this one crossed the line? Chuck been stood by Flav for his addictions, degeneracy etc but flav did wrong on this one

I'm not surprised PE been to hell and back with Flav from the drugs to the fukkery on reality TV and the law suits and who know what else.
Chuck is an old man, he is own man his brand and pen and his touring kept PE alive the last 20 years. I'm sure he been sick of the bullshyt I am actually surprised Flav lasted this long.

With that said I love Flav he is the ODB of PE in a sense.
