Honestly, if I was in Jay's position right now, as soon as I heard about those incidents I would of just had my clothes removed from Barney's and severed ties with them ASAP.

Sadly though, this type of thing is spurred by the public asking him and not even Jay himself. The fact other people have to incline someone of his stature to do something that he should just do naturally as a black person really has me reevaluating where he's at now. It's shameful how money can override dignity and self-respect.

I think a lot of entertainers espouse what Belafonte said about Jay. They are in it to make money, not make a difference, even though they are in a place to do so. I don’t expect social responsibility from most high profile (Read: entertainers) people, though I’m pleasantly surprised when I see it.

Let's say if Jay-Z was caught up in some racist scandal like caught on tape saying "fukk these Cracker ass crackers, when I was hustling 60 hours straight eating Oreo cookies to survive these white devils were lounging in their pools molesting children and stealing water from African villages"

Barney's would drop him like a coke habit

But Jay-Z being the " business" man that he is probably will sweep this shyt under the rug and continue on counting his money...

It's SO demonic friends
Lost 92 bricks, had to fall back/ Knocked a nikka off his feet but i crawled back :dead:

While I hear the things Belafonte says I really wonder what these dude would do if they were making the money Jay and other celebrities now make. It's easy to be a broke militant and we all see a lot of them. Them dudes weren't making the money these big entertainers are making now so I feel its easier to do what they did back in the day sorry.

Sounds like an excuse for people who have everything, and do nothing, vs those of yesteryear who had less and did more. Black people like Belafonte lived during a racially dangerous time and yet they had the courage to stand for something, other than the almighty dollar. That's why they are respected. I think today's generation (seemingly you included) only worships money. I think that's disgusting, just my opinion.

It doesn't diminish what this young man went through, but at the same I know that money could have been spent towards something productive. I can't cosign black spending that much money to make white people richer. It is sickening. Show me a white kid that drops the same amount for a black clothing line.

I don't worship nothing but I think people like you like to romanticize about stuff from a bygone day as far activism from stars of yesterday compared to today. It almost always skews to people loving the broker yesteryear stars than today's stars and for that reason IMO it seems to be some jealousy involved.

He's the most popular and image seen person in the public eye... there's tons of black designers clothing lines located in different white businesses but they don't have the jay-z limelight so they wouldn't get pressured

Hence why this petition is stupid. Don't just ask Jay to remove his merchandise ask all blacks to do so.

Why should he have to mess with his business? He is a businessman, not social activist. Pulling his line from a store is a loss of potential profit. Not to mention he isn't a one man show, many could possibly feel the impact of such a move.
