It is what it is brehs. We knew this was coming since the Meta VR price hike and arguably the PS5 hike as well. It really depends on the feature set because I wasn't really shocked by the price. If we're getting Half Life Alyx and various other 3rd party titles, as well as Sony exclusives it may be a cop.

I think this gen went backwards as compared to last gen. They put out very powerful consoles up front so i don’t see the need for a mid gen refresh. These are already the “pro” consoles the Series s is the base PS4/X1 equivalent.

Games just take longer and longer to make, and the effects of the pandemic were more profound than i think we know.

As far as exclusive games, xbox doesn’t have anymore cross gen games in the works. All of the games coming next year are “next gen” only. Sony on the other hand seems to still want to support PS4 cause they don’t have a cheaper and more available console right now.
Hardware still has tons of room.

RTX 4090 has 83 Teraflops.
Series X is 12. PS5 10.3?

Imagine by 2025? :whew:

Yeah but it’s not like there are any 8k TVs or whatever coming out.

No need for mid gen upgrades just to go from FauxK to 4K especially with new technology like FSR, VRR etc.

Last gen the console were weak and outdated from jump, then we got new TVs we needed to make use of so the mid gen refresh was needed.

People said the same thing about 4K tv.
This is a thread from July 2015, about a year and half before the PS4 pro came out and 2 1/2 before the Xbox one X.

In a few years 8K TVs and content will become more popular .

I don’t think 8K tvs will be a viable consumer product anytime soon.

The first 4K TV came out in 2012. And people are just now finally converting in mass to 4k.

8k got a least another 4-6 years before mainstream viability. By the time we will be talking about PS6
