It's disgusting to see how people have defended and continue to Paterno. This fiasco is the outcome of being blinded by truth through "hero worship" bs. That's why I've never been big on having heroes or role models. People are human and truth be told, not only do we have skeletons in our closet, some got a cemeteries-full.

If they dont then the media needs to go at the NCAA. They putting teams on probation for receiving a free pair of sweat pants. They want me to believe that unfair recruiting practices are worse than the systematic rape of children?

penn state prob has recruiting violations as well, if paterno, and the admins etc. brushed this under the rug im damn sure any violations were swept under the rug to keep this cult going

I think Sandusky was holding a trump card of some sort. Why else would you let a fukking PEDOPHILE not only stay on campus, but continue to be around young boys? Because PSU is a family? FOH lol I think he had MAD dirt on the program and used it against them to stay around.

:pacspit: at joe paterno, even serial murderers and the lowest of the low scum on earth wouldn't have covered up children getting molestated

yup i agree, that's why this situation is so strange, unless other board members were fukkn young boys as well :gag: who knows:facepalm:, i still think there is more to this story, sandusky never testified, never dropped names, wasn't paid off (that we know off) , for all we know paterno was fukkn little boys as well who knows

pedos love to press around their prey

I disagree. The trump card was unnecessary. Sandusky was aware of the culture of the university just as well as anyone and he knew, just as we know now, that they cared more about football and their reputation than protecting children.

LaVar was just on Yahoo Radio on WTF (Wetzel to Forde). Wetzel asked him what he thought of Paterno TODAY:

DanWetzel: LaVar Arrington on JoePa: "If you really think, how much do I really know him? I know the coach. Didn’t know the person. I thought I did."

He's also talking about one of the victims, of whom, he found out at the trial, he actually knew while he was in school. He sounds disappointed and pissed at the same time. I didn't, nor will I watch the Millen mess, but I'd have to say that LaVar is on the opposite end of the spectrum than that clown.

Also, Wetzel wrote yet another great article about the findings today. Here's the end of the article:

The reason Paterno was able to wield such influence is the outsized value placed on college sports and the coaches who deliver those winning programs. A "pyramid of power," Freeh described it. And anyone pointing to all the players he helped is just repeating the same pathetic concept.

Paterno did help his football players. Those men, however, were heavily recruited, talented and often highly motivated people. If they hadn't gone to Penn State they would've gone to Michigan or Virginia or Notre Dame.

For decades he found a way to take top-line kids and maximize what they could do, usually by motivating them to excel at a sport they already loved. They were subject to mass adulation and had the potential to become millionaires at the professional level.

He wasn't taking illiterate Third World children and getting them to Harvard. Almost every person Paterno positively impacted through football would have fared similarly had Penn State not even fielded a team. They just would have played elsewhere. Bo Schembechler or Lou Holtz or Bobby Bowden would've coached them up in football and life, just like Paterno did.

Conversely, the kids that Jerry Sandusky tricked, molested and damaged wouldn't have lived the same life had Paterno done the right thing. They were attacked, out of nowhere. Without fault. Without provocation. Without the opportunity to create their own destiny.

The lives of these kids were profoundly and forever destroyed because of the actions of Sandusky, Spanier, Schultz, Curley and, yes, Joe Paterno.
There could never be enough victories, enough perfect graduation rates, enough national championships to justify that.

Joe Paterno was a great influence on men who were already likely to live great lives, men who could help him win football games.

He was a failure to those Second Mile boys who had no such talents, no such opportunity, no parade of recruiters looking to offer them scholarships. He turned his back on the very kids that were desperate for the kind of hero that Joe Paterno's former legacy claimed he was all about.

Powerful, powerful words.

And as far as punishment? I know some ppl think the NCAA won't do anything, but I think the exact opposite. I think they're gonna go hard at PSU. As someone pointed out, Charles Robinson said that there's material in the report which goes directly to the "lack of institutional control" section, and that the NCAA can go digging with every available shovel.

Brooklyn son
fukk all that inspiring young men shyt

fukk all that over 200 wins in college football shyt

fukk being some legend

fukk all that football shyt.....

He let this waste of life anally invade little boys buttholes for 14 years. He let it go not once but twice. Why? To keep the only thing he has to his life intact. He knew if shyt came to light all that football shyt would be meaningless and his place in history would be lost. He didn't even care about Sandusky. Joe Pa just cared about his legacy. I hope demons are ripping his a$$hole a new every 15 mins in whatever level of hell is reserved for pieces of shyt like Paterno. He might have helped talented kids who were only valuable if they brought him more wins, but he didnt give a fukk about kids being porked by his staff. And he got off lucky. He died. I wish he was alive to see his world fall around him.

Plus Sandusky would have sang like a canary a long time ago if he had any dirt on the program.
