If I were you I would just wait but I couldn't imagine having to wait until damn near 2022 if worst case COVID last throughout all of 2021 and Sony struggles with meeting demand as a result
The PS5 should be widely available around March-May 2021
If not it's going to be a battle trying to get one for the rest of 2021

"Hey guys, i work for the big red bullseye retail store (US) in the electronics department. I was told some pretty important news regarding launch day for consoles. They are not accepting walk ins on launch day. Rather, what they are doing is at midnight on launch day, they will take online orders for order pick up and drive up. You may have a shot at still getting one launch day but have to do it hours ahead. Please (for this company at least) do not line up expecting to walk in to grab one. I hope this helps."
