And funny enough as it sounds, nintendo is still here too. If microsoft left and nobody took their place you better believe a lot of 3rd party companies would crawl back to nintendo.

The Playstation 2 was the weakest hardware of it's generation. did you enjoy its games any less because of it?

When it came out it wasn't the weakest..it was the strongest..the other systems came out and was stronger but Sony had the exclusives on lock and the install base was another level..GameCube wasn't dropping games consistently enough..and Xbox was basically Dreamcast part 2 and trying to find it's own identity being new to the console gaming world.

Really what difference does it make if its over or not? If I'm the CEO of Microsoft all I'd be concerned about is making money. We'd keep pace with Sony as best as we could to keep the market from becoming lopsided. Outside of that it's maximize profits. If we're making money why does it make if we outsell them or not? That would be my attitude.

The people most heavily invested in this who sells the most contest are internet fanboys. in reality there's no trophy given out at the end of a console generation for the company that sold the most. all that really matters is the bottom line of how much the company invested in the tech and how much it made them back.
