PS4 Eye Bundled In, Vita Remote Play Mandate

..it's a cool feature..nikkas is reaching for straws at this point tryna shyt on Sony like this is a bad thing when GAMERS been begging them to do this with the Vita since it came out basically...they are tryna put some actual use into their handheld finally and nikkas supposed to look at that as a bad thing now?..

I think if they were gonna embrace this feature and really make it special they should have done away with the pseye and tried to package the vita with the ps4. That would be a killer feature, and it would encourage developers to use the vita support in new interesting ways.

As it stands they have two limited features that aren't implemented as good as their competitors.

its mandated for them but not for customers. you never have to buy a vita. its a huge selling point for the vita though, i dont see how its a waste of time for them.

Not much. The vitas been out for a couple years now. I'm sure it doesn't cost much more than $100-$150 to manufacture. There would have been no R&D costs, which they had to spend on the eye. They probably could have included it and still offered an afordable package.

By forcing developers choose between a packaged-in peripheral and an expensive add-on, depending on which one developers choose, Sony will be undermining their own strategies/technologies.

I wouldn't say it's a bad thing for gamers. Just wasted time/resources for Sony/developers.

Let the real games not have to worry about having to use a damn camera in some format. I doubt any developer will be hurting from this decision.

The remote play thing will likely be easy for developers to implement. I mean, that's why Sony purchased Gaikai after all.

First off, Xbox Smart Glass isn't technically about "remote play" its more of a way to enhance your experience. They could stream the video to a tablet but what would be the point of that? What doesn't make sense is you not agreeing, but here you are acting like you would rather stream to a 5in screen instead of using your big screen. You gonna stream blu-rays too And lmao @ you blurting out "And maybe sony will have an app for phones/tablets "

And that's exactly why devs will shoot for the bare minimum of that mandate. If the vita was a standard feature devs would spend the time/resources to make it something special.

I don't know which would be easier to do, but if its easier for devs to just add a couple voice commands so they don't have to deal with remote play, that's what they will do.

Exactly. And that's why in my opinion the resources should have been spent on fleshing out the ps4/vita experience.

Remote play is better because it shows what's on your TV on your handheld. How is full mirroring not better than a app that's just a remote?



Also, with Remote Play, you can turn on/off your console with the PSP/Vita without being on the same network. You can't do that with Glass. And since Glass doesn't show you what's on the screen you can't really turn off the console unless you're in the same room.

It's just a convenient feature, and it's about time Sony started letting people know about it.
