a lot of heads gonna get wakeup calls when them new property tax rates hit
:snoop: don’t remind me. I came in at 1354/mo back at the end of 2017. I’m at $1503 now, and I’m expecting $1600 or close to it due to value hike.
Although there are a lot of factors to blame..greedy rent seeking stands out as the most shytty one imo

$1503 a MONTH in property taxes?

We looked at a house on Friday we really liked. The interior was even better than the pictures inside; pretty much a perfect setup for our price range. Supposedly hasn't been a ton of interest in it yet either, likely because there isn't really a yard but it was fine for us because it's low maintenance.

The one thing that bugged me on the visit was the neighbors having a trampoline right along the fence line, which is very close to the living room. I drove by this afternoon and they had their garage open with a couple tables on their driveway with a bunch of chairs around. Drove by again at 10:15 tonight and they had about ten people in their driveway.

My wife loves the place and can tune these things out but it will bug the hell out of me. We've been living in a very quiet townhouse community for a long time now and going back to annoying/noisy neighbors is not an option for me.

I just can't do this place and it's heartbreaking. We were gonna put in an offer tomorrow.

I know I'm being nitpicky as hell but this is just how I'm wired. I'm intensely private too. :yeshrug:

My father got a letter saying the property tax here went up because they assessed the house higher now. The house around the block went for 680k. Im telling you these houses arent worth that at all. Theyre attached, with a shared driveway too

This is the extremely frustrating part in my search. People paying ridiculous amounts over not realizing they’re about to raise theirs and their neighbors property taxes. smh

I thought your property tax was locked in based on your purchase price and doesn’t change?? They can raise it if they decide to randomly appraise neighborhoods?

I’m in California and never heard of this. I’m hoping that doesn’t apply here

People = banks and businesses.

I hope yall realize that all these wild prices and houses being sold for 3 times the worth is the working of banks and corporations.

I laugh when people tell me why are people buying houses left and right and can afford it.

I got 3.25% last year :whew:

Me and my dad were looking at when him and my mom bought in 2003 and that joint was over 6% which was at the time low. But it was adjustable rate mortgage which was a killer in 2008.
