Exactly I know you are talking about b5 but I think this is why I'm not into the new trek. It seems like production value is more important than writing.

Babylon 5 is too overwrought with a lot of early and late misfires for it to be on par with DS9 even storywise, but it's sublime when it gels and hits its stride. Even in the 90's the show looked rough though.
SG1 is the true Trek disciple IMO. I also rewatch Farscape and other shows more than I do B5, but it's still a great show. A modern remake of B5 would grimdark and cut up the entire show if Straczynski allowed them to. Hope it doesn't happen. Koenig was great in B5 also, one of my favs from TOS.

That's the fukking syfy channel they notorious for that bullshyt, I'm glad we got netlfix and amazon now because at least now we get good shows that may get a series finale without getting canceled...I was pissed when they canceled the expanse...I was like that's their top rated show and they wanted to cancel it???

Because it goes into fukkery territory and isn't very Trek at all.
Next Generation has a lot of my favorite characters. The original is great too, but Kirk isn't my favorite captain. DS9 has a lot of great characters as well. I've never been attached to any character in Voyager. They were all kind of bland to me.
