When talking about cars made specifically for racing this is the case. When talking about street cars there are plenty of customizations that can be made within a certain class. And that forces trade offs. I.E. speed or acceleration. Better tires or better suspension. It ads a lot of diversity to the races.
They were CLEARLY seeing how drafting works in the game, the cars all start accelerating at the same time. A 50-80mph run is not going to produce draft like that, but hey, you know all about racing.

well this game is supposed to be about motorsport and not street racing. although there are road cars in the game, it's not a class that's covered in the career mode (besides some of the optional events you get invited to)
