The real wealthy people that it would effect are making most of their money from investments/assets and not income. I think the capital gains tax is somewhere around 20 percent. So some 1%er is probably paying a lower percentage of taxes than you. And don't forget there are tax deductions, write offs, "accounting magic" , etc so alot of folks don't meet their full tax liability hence the "refund ballers" every year. That also happens for the rich but instead of a 5 thousand dollar refund they pay 250k in taxes instead of the million they were technically supposed to70% would never happen.
Believe it or not, that's what the tax rate was during the so called "golden days" of this country. And they were paying that while also paying a living wage.
Not that I think it would work with our current society. We need to figure out how to not be so wasteful with the budget before taking even more money from anyone else.
Nothere are a lot of unemployed people. the first plan basically promised them like 4k/month. now 2k on top of that with this plan. the government is gonna pay tens of millions of americans 6k/month

You'll never convince politicians on both sides to tax the people lining their pockets.The real wealthy people that it would effect are making most of their money from investments/assets and not income. Funny thing is, if the people refused to go back to work there is a chance for this! They'd have to do this to keep some resemblance of an economy going.
It all hinges on people saying, "I'm not dying on your job".
For the first time in a loooong time the chips are in our corner.
Right now we're the NFL players bringing the Owners to the table. We have a chance of saying there will be no games (economy) unless you meet our demands!
Just as the situation in the NFL however, you have players (these guys in the thread saying hurry and send us back to work I have mansions to pay for) who are too shortsighted to recognize the opportunity.
- Monthly direct cash payments of at least $2,000 to every adult in the U.S., and an additional $1,000 for every child for up to a year;
- A nationwide moratorium on all evictions and foreclosures;
- At least $30,000 in student debt relief;
This is ridiculous. I don’t see how they could present this with a straight face.
I’m in no way a conservative, but this sounds absurd
Right. And if people aren't working then where the fukk will the tax revenues come from to pay for this?
Please get these clowns the fukk up outta here
But 2 Trillion dollars appearing out of thin air to bail out corporations is not essential ?

Good luck convincing them to go with that plan.Maybe from the billionaires who NEED American workers to run the industries that they profit from
