You'd have to be suffering from some disease to treat it, which prescription drugs do. Vaccines do not and cannot cure a disease if you currently have it.
A vaccine is able to cure a disease you currently have. I'm not sure where you got that from. Therapeutic vaccines. Of course, if the symptoms have already disabled you then you are out of luck but it can halt the progression of disease. Also, most vaccinations are done as pre-emptive measure anyway. Here's a link http://www.webmd.com/vaccines/features/treating-disease-with-vaccines...I also think the movie contagion was awesome in the way it portrayed the scientific process.

BTW....guys I just took the PCAT this morning and I got a preliminary composite of 94 percentile...which is awesome. I fukked up on quantitative section because I suck at math under pressure but everything else was really high. One of my essays had to do with the topic of parents not giving vaccinations to children. This thread really helped me put forth an argument. :salute: to all of you!

@Serious @TheReal_Broke_88m3_13 @Kool G Trap ...you guys always link me to shyt...much appreciated

:lupe:

what was your argument about.... I don't wanna debate or anything like that, I'm just curious.

u want to be a pharmacist?? (i'm assuming)
Well the prompt asked for "solutions to parents not wanting to vaccinate their children" or something to that effect. I had 30 minutes to write down somethign so it isnt world changing...but basically i said better education on vaccines and how they work, better pharmaceutical company marketing campaigns so they dont come off as evil corporations, and closer doctor patient relationships so patients dont feel like their doctor or healthcare provider is trying to zombify them. I used a lot of the arguments in here on both sides to strengthen and add counters to points.

Im not really sure if I want to be pharmacist, or if I want to do pharmaceutical research or some other drug related career. I think i'm gonna do a dual degree of Pharm.D./Ph.D id I can get into the schools I want to get into.

interesting that the question didn't allow u to chose a position to argue from.. just said, "whats a good way to push the shots on parents and convince them against their beliefs."

maybe u should do pharm research if u want to make contributions... for money any type of medicine is were it's at. Pharmacist make bread. If u do research you will eventually sell ur sole for funding unless ur a genius and develop something ground breaking....

I need to watch contagion.

Ya i found that a little weird too. Maybe I just misinterpreted the prompt :lupe:. Good looks man. I'm just focusing on making it into a school now and then i'll decide exactly what I want to do. The program will guide me. And ya Contagion really surprised me. A lot of people said it was boring...which i can see...but if you are into that kind of science then its really accurate and entertaining. Most of my science peeps loved it.

You think I give a shyt enough to ask for the details? You must be working for the government to ride the dikk of their experiments so passionately :laff:

By the way: :umad:

Most studies are conducted independently of the government.

It is astonishing that the concept of "burden of proof" and believing things based on empirical data is a foreign concept to posters of a "Higher Learning" section.

So the choice is- better safe than sorry. And safe is avoiding vaccinations.

^

Being safe-than-sorry would implies getting your son vaccinated. Millions of people get vaccinated and most of them are fine. Some even go to Harvard.

on the bright side and if its any consolation @Blackking the people of tribal Pakistan share your view.

i was vaccinated and I'm healthy, but that's not really the point. Many of the most educated populations on our planet avoid these vaccinations as well. So I too- can use these fallacies.
