Without Saudi and TV money, and in a year that they already lost significant stock value, the company is going to be in dire financial straits.

This honestly needs its own thread. Nothing good will come from this. I'd be pissed, if I were talent.

It's mind blowing to me that they've only released two people due to the pandemic. At some point there's going to be some sort of mass deavoring to stop the financial hemorrhaging of money.

Life comes at you fast.

NBA: Shuts down after Rudy Gobert tests positive

NFL: Implements a virtual NFL draft (aka no contact)

XFL: Literally dies again after player tests positive

AEW: Just went ahead and taped weeks of Dynamite

It sounds to me like it's probably one of the NXT managers or production crew based on being in Orlando with roommates.

This is a time where being a public company may be their downfall. I could imagine that if a wrestler, or a bunch of wrestlers, contracts it and one of them is severely hospitalized or dies, that the negative publicity and outcry will make the majority of the investors dump their stock. Sponsors might pull out as a result. If that happens, Vince would probably keep the company afloat, but it'll probably be 96-97 WWF era where he'll start telling people they should go to AEW because he can't afford to pay people's contracts. Similar to the Bret Hart thing. Hopefully not, but since they are going live every week, the risk definitely increases the chance of something bad happening.

brehs what in the name of fukk was this? :dead:

Have Shawn Michaels be in charge of your main programs brehs :mjlol:

I've been watching some 97 HBK over the past few days, and its convinced me that Shawn missed his calling in third-tier dinner theatre. The dude is such a drama queen in ring (as opposed to merely backstage) that it shouldn't be surprising that this comes of matches he agents. I'm not sure Curt Hennig was as dramatic with his bumping as Shawn was at times (no wonder he broke his back and had an arthritic knee before his first retirement).

(Also watching: Mid-late 90s New Japan. The lesson, as always? Hashimoto was a fukking god and Inoki was completely insane to try and put him out to pasture over his MMA/shooter obsession.)

The stock price has already been slashed in half from before the pandemic, and has lost 2/3rds of its value from last year. And I figure that decisions like these aren't going to help any.

I do get it from a certain standpoint: Vince just lost an absolutely insane amount of money with the XFL's death (hundreds of millions, in addition to his net worth being slashed in half), and he figures that the WWE needs a show of strength to regain the trust and confidence of shareholders. Problem being, of course, that pandemics do not care for capitalism and that his decision to go live AFTER a confirmed positive somehow actually dumber than it looks, and it looks incredibly stupid.

This will not end well.
