As opposed to having posters straight up advocating killing people in these trayvon threads? There are 2 "militant" threads right now on the front page of this board. One advocating the arming of black people and the other calling on black people to go back to being segregated and militarize.

I don't really disagree with the banning of these two posters but this place can turn into an echo chamber sometimes.

How the hell is a thread encouraging black people to "arm themselves" an offensive thread? You scared of the big bad black men with guns?

Tom's ban was definetely needed.
This dude was on a TLR thread about a poster talking about his mom making a suicide attempt saying "I want to troll so bad !"
The same dude who in a HL thread about firefighters dying in a fire posted the 2pac IDGAF gif.

PoZ, on the other hand, seems to only have disturbing views but I don't think he's trolling. He genuinely believes what he said IMO and could stay. I hate his views (and that's why he's on my ignore list) but he has the right to think the way he does.

I honestly don't because from the few posts I've read from him he seems really sincere when he posts even if his views are the opposite of mines and of the majority here. I think it's important to have diversity on "serious" forums because how can HL be credible if it bans posters only because they have different views ?

PoZ really looks like he hates his black half (besides, he does look more asian than black, IIRC, so that may add fuel to his hate) and therefore he genuinely dislikes (hates ?) black people (even if one of his parents is). He's just mentally unstable to me

But I'm not on HL like that so maybe I'm missing something... Has he insulted someone ? Has he made bad tastes posts ? Is he in threads adding fuel on the fire for fun ? Does he "shock posts" ?

Diversity is great, we have a lot of it,and have sadly lost a lot of good posters because of the direction the subforum was allowed to take.

Basically see..Sly doesn't want people like Gundam and Tom banned because if they're banned what it does is create standards and boundaries.

Boundaries that Sly, in typical right wingnut fashion, likes to tip toe on in order to say what he feels, which more often than not is right wing tomfoolery and basically veiled racism to those who know him better.

By banning these other cats, Sly is feeling that pressure. He's really a racist lunatic, but he's still a because he expresses his views in a manner that is obviously designed to be as inflammatory as possible. He gets off on the hate he receives here. A while back, he briefly started posting all types if random threads all day here and in TLR, and said he got banned from the forum he most frequently posts on wherever that is. He posts on and gets banned from a number of forums and is an inflammatory racist on all of them, depending on what the dominant racial makeup of the forum is probably.

There is something to be gained from GENUINE morons. I've been in an authoritative position over youth in my lifetime, a mentor so to speak. One of the BEST teaching tools i've ever been able to use in terms of teaching perspective and "life lessons" was always the "what NOT to do". Far more powerful IMHO than the "do it LIKE that guy" the "don't be like that guy" holds more weight IMHO. That being said....

At the least PoZ was a training dummy for people who may not have known how to handle certain arguments. His views, misguided as i believe they were, are shared by A SHYT TON of people out there. In HL we have the benefit of a majority of similar thoughts, in the Real world that's not always the case. The "benefit" of Poz is that he allowed you a medium to exercise your arguments again dumb folks.

Further, differing opinions ARE important. Very important. Not only do they challenge your thinking they help you develop a robust understanding of how others think, which is just as important as understanding your own argument. Know thy enemy.

Poz wasn't a troll, he was a moron, a dumbass, myopic, self hating and confused individual, but a troll he was not.

Who is going to present "those" types of arguments? HL is now more homogenized than ever before.
