I agree that Kyle had some real concerns about his mom dating Leon (similar to Jody being concerned about his mom dating Melvin, who casually admits to shooting people and said he would rape him if they were locked up together).

Looking back on it... there were a lot of episodes of the Cosby Show where the men would be just chillen meanwhile their wives/girlfriends would just come in and be creating imaginary problems and then nag & yell at the men about it
