The law doesn't stretch back to 1929. That was the original Court ruling that drew international outcry and the Government passed amendments to make that better.
Your idea of amnesty would certainly be less restrictive to the immigrants, but it's probably politically impossible. The US is an example of how difficult it is to get the public behind the idea of amnesty.
How would my idea for amnesty be politically impossible? Similar ideas have worked in other countries (of different population sizes).
And the DR is mainly concerned with 250K Haitians/blacks; that's nowhere near the amount of immigrants the US has to account for in its logjam of immigration intake.

This has absolutely nothing to do with race, its just that we have 2 million haitians living in our country using our resources and we have done nothing to address the issue. Now that we are taking interest in controlling the situation, you backstabbing a$$holes are spitting in our faces all over the world, spreading wrong information all around and accusing us of racism.
The only country that has helped Haiti is DR, not even USA. All they did was a big show like they always do.

We are not racist people, the thing is that we are just not interested in the black cause because it is controversial, full of resentment and closed within their own prejudices. We view black supremacy or afrocentrism as just as bad as white supremacy or eurocentrism.
Haiti ended slavery in DR and yall ran back to the Spanish. Plus yall begged the US to take you over for years. Dominic00n Republic gotta be the only colony ever to want to go back to being a colony

Judging the current political climate in DR it seems a lot less receptive to Haitians than the US is to Mexicans. And as I stated, amnesty bills are pretty much DOA here.
I was just stating ONE alternative measure by which the DR could "protect its identity." I wasn't saying that the DR should. Calm your t*ts, boy.
1. You fail to acknowledge that those Haitians are in fact Dominican citizens. Thus, they're entitled to Dominican resources.
2. DR is not "taking control of the situation" but is in fact engaging in a systematic practice of racism. DR is literally taking people off the streets and sending them to concentration camps for deportation based on the color of their skin and their Haitian heritage. This isn't taking control of the situation, this is concerted racism under the guise of "immigration control."
Wrong. Canada, South Korea, Taiwan, China, Japan, Australia, Brazil, Israel, India, Sweden, Switzerland, Venezuela, and Cuba all helped Haiti during the earthquake situation alone. But kudos to DR for providing some aid to the country with which it shares an island.

Act like Trujillo and Balaguer never ordered the mass genocides of Haitians and blacks, brehs.
I'd say that Haitians and Mexicans are very similar, with the only difference being that there are MUCH fewer Haitians trying to get into DR than Mexicans trying to get into the US.

Don't try and give me history classes about my country because you will end up losing.
First of all, slavery in DR wasn't as brutal, the french and the english were way more cruel to their slaves than the spanish, also the colony of Santo Domingo was very very very poor, to the point where white spanish masters were living in the same conditions as their black slaves.
Spain basically abandoned Santo Domingo, which is why José Núñez de Cáceres led an independant movement to expel the spanish crown out of the country, he called it "Spanish Haiti", but that only lasted a couple of months before Jean Pierre Boyer invaded "Spanish Haiti" (actual Dominican Republic) with his black supremacy ideology, and started slaughtering every dominican that did not have STRONG AFRICAN FEATURES.
It was a brutal and degrading regime, where haitians robbed, raped and killed many dominicans barbarically just because the mulatto dominican population reminded them of their french masters. They closed the only dominican university, broke relations with the catholic church and prohibited the spanish language. That is without mentioning the strong taxation that was imposed on the dominican population to help Haiti pay its compensation to France. It was fukked up. So don't talk to me about being thankful, Haiti should be thankful to us, because all we have done is help that God forsaken country.
Haitians are horrible backstabbing people who are not worth helping. The type of people that would chop the hand that feeds them with an electric chainsaw if they could.
