The Jews in the US are largely liberal in nature, and many of them don't associate or condone what Israel does.

Matter of fact, some of the most hard line anti-Israel people I've met are Jews. That's why I laugh when they equate Israel criticism with antisemitism.

i think these people watch fox news and trinity broadcasting, get all worked up about muslims taking over jerusalem, and then interpret any nuance on our policy with israel from a politician as the handiwork of the antichrist. it can be a huge deal if they can spin this with the most diabolical intent. if you look at what they did to susan rice, benghazi was small potatoes and they ran her off.

yeah but a lot of liberal jews are liberal except for the israel thing. but you're right that many jewish people are against things like settlement expansion and iran war etc., they're just not organized enough to push back effectively or fund campaigns based on this viewpoint. it's only within the last couple years that they've started this anti-aipac lobby

You're probably right, but fyi, it wasn't just the comments that these lgbt groups (and log cabin Republicans ) are citing, but a voting record that's been consistently anti-gay on every measure. I agree that it probably won't end up being a major obstacle.

i think he is just trying to keep his name recognition high with this, i dont think he will devote much more than a comment or two, and he cant vote anymore and nobody listens to those log cabin republicans either, they are never consistently outraged with their own party so they have no credibility on gay issues.

yeah, you're right about his voting record. i wasnt familiar with it until now. the dude definitely opposes homosexuality. at this point in history i doubt that is a disqualifier, considering the majority of his opponents are on the right wing. i dont think the right wing media ecosystem can handle the mental gymnastics.
