It's already been resolved, but it was a non-issue anyway because SOS could do their own canvass, recount, and certification. It would have needlessly cost the taxpayers money but it was performative bullshyt. Once they realized their names were going to be public they realized the cost to their reputations wasn't worth it.

Oh and thanks for voting to put my fiancee's soon-to-be-former boss on the Ohio Supreme Court.:salute:

They play the game. They purposefully seek out these positions to assert their power and these low level government positions aren't going to involve the amount of vetting and dirty laundry airing as a national race since they are smaller positions.

Take a look at who makes up your state government and local country boards, especially in red states, and you'll be surprised the idiotic and crazy people who occupy these positions. Theyre occupied by your next door neighbor who believes in q anon conspiracy theories.

This is why democrats need to emphasize the importance of local elections. Trump is one guy but there are hundreds of little trumps in your local state politics enacting policies more likely to affect you.
those election certificate boards arent elected positions in wayne county

the republicans and democrats each get to appoint two people to it. thats why it was split even somewhere as blue as wayne

Explain how it’s illegal.

Not all that hard.

As soon as an incentive is offered, it technically becomes a case of compensating someone for their vote. ESPECIALLY in a case where the entity offering the incentive is also handing out info to influence said vote in one direction or another.

While it's a great idea, doing it that way would be begging to see those votes thrown out in court. As ineffective as the GOP has been so far in trying to stall out this election, that would be easy money for them.

Suppose the rich guy gives them a ride. Helps them get the ballots. Teaches them how to properly fill out the ballots. Then makes sure the ballots are delivered. This removes the hasslework for the underprivileged who usually don’t have the time or energy to spend or care about voting. “Incentives” can be masqueraded in many ways. But let’s just say it isn’t offered at the beginning stages of this.

this can be done.

With all Trump pulls some stupid and fukkery shyt. He talks about he will run President again in 2024, I doubt republicans and people wanna work with him again.

then he runs as an independent. That is way more dangerous. I feel like there needs to be a bipartisan effort to limit a presidents power.

What you're describing is perfectly legal, aside from the making sure they're delivered thing (assuming you mean assigning someone to pick up and deliver. You're not allowed to gather ballots). However, as soon as you use the word "incentive", it blows everything up. You call it an education or outreach program, and keep detailed logs/proof of it all being exactly what the program says it is, and we're good.

The Republican party doesnt want Trump, but the base loves him, so they are in tough spot.

In their best case scenario, Trump doesnt run again, but they convince the base to come out to vote in his honor or to avenge him.

Middle scenario, Trump runs again but loses in the primary, and doesnt run Independent. Some of his followers stay home, reducing Republican turnout back to 2012 levels where Obama clapped those cheeks.

Worst case scenario, Trump runs as an independent and splits the Republican vote. Democrats skate to a comfortable Presidential win, and even make gains in both houses of Congress. This would be especially devastating in the Senate, as they have 6 year terms and its normally very difficult for the Democrats to get control.

Most republicans are hoping he gets indicted and gets a felony conviction
