You have to realize that a lot of Black folk admired Ben Carson. I knew about him when I was in the 8th or 9th grade when I saw his biopic and researched him. Carson's story in itself is remarkable. If they can cater to the Black folk they can capture them. I think get a quarter of them atleast. That's just my opinion. Especially, if they bring up Haiti. Maybe, Haitians would vote for Trump if he promised them something in return. Like, helping to fix Haiti

There is no pick bringing in the minority vote for Trump. That's on the candidate himself. He needs to focus on other glaring deficiencies. Let's be honest, Webb looked horrible on the main stage. I'd either go with Carson or maybe pick Rubio (establishment, but can bring in the Hispanics) believe it or not. Webb was a good senator from my state, but I just don't see him as a good pick.
As far as Rubio is concerned, Trump's going down in flames while he'll get to run again for the Republican nomination in 2020. That's part of the reason I picked Webb: the more attractive VP candidates like Nikki Haley and Susana Martinez don't want anything to do with Trump.
