No we understand how it works. Don't advertise it as $800million when you are never gonna see close to that. Out of less than $385 million lumpsum of the $800 million jackpot. The Feds take almost $150 million of that and depending on your state tax rate mines 8.5% one of the highest in the nation they take an additional 35 million leaving less than $205 million. It's definitely easy money if you win but that's still a no vaseline raping. That's why I can't even be mad at the rich and wealthy who find ways to hide their money.
You gotta pay taxes, such a shame :mjcry:

It's not about the taxes. It's how much, especially in this era of inflation nobody taking the annuity. The government essentially gets 75% of the jackpot.
they get less than half:francis: the deal is the deal, either take the annuity or take the lesser cash lump sum, and pay ur taxes like everyone else does

If you include the govermnet-operated lottery as the government, they get more than half. Annuity doesn't make sense with current inflation rates.

They dont get more than half :snoop:

Its a real simple deal,
annuity is 825 mil over 30 years
cash deal is 410.2 mil today

in america you pay taxes, and thats the deal.

You know the government operates the lotto right? Assuming you take the lump-sum (which any financially rational person would do), you would get less than half of the advertised jackpot after taxes. Then depending on your state, federal and state taxes take about half of what's remaining.

That's not even mentioning that 50% of the ticket sales go towards prizes, the state governments keep the rest. And the $2 billion in smaller lottery prizes that go unclaimed every year.

I think that's been around for less than a year but yes.

the advertised annuity is one thing, and the advertised cash sum is another

anyone can easily view the cash sum, which is shown on lotto apps

if people can’t understand that, its not the governments fault, they do not take more than half of the cash lump sum
