Haven't really been following the production, just knew there was a brotha and expected him to be The Black Ranger

They switched around the races of the characters to avoid controversy that's why the Black ranger is Asian and the Blue ranger is Black.

I wouldn't have minded if they left a brotha out of the first movie entirely only to bring one in as Tommy in the sequel.
