Honestly, what would Dems even have to fear from Trump being the speaker?

It wouldn't make a difference policy-wise (they're just going to obstruct regardless) and would just guarantee an L for Republicans next election. If Republicans are dumb enough to throw their House majority in the bushes like that I don't see any reason for Dems to try to stop them.
