I don't think he wants it. The margin is low and he doesn't have the skill to even whip the same HFC members' votes so that McCarthy can be speaker. How is he going to get the Republicans in purple districts and the HFC on the same page as Speaker if he can't even do it right now?

Agreed, but they need to a) find someone who a majority will vote for and b) who actually wants the job.

I don't even know why McCarthy wants the job so bad. The HFC broke both Boehner and Paul Ryan and convinced them to quit the House. I am going to guess that most people who are electable, including Jordan, don't want a job where they have to deal with the HFC.

I remember the House fukkery Caucus was so bad that they made John Boehner step down, and he had a majority of like fifty or sixty at the time.

McCarthy is a lil bytch with no charisma; I don't even know why he wants to have this position with a five-person majority, but he also is no John Boehner, which is wild because Boehner was soft. McCarthy is going to have this job for about ten minutes even if he does get the position because he'll have to cut deals that allow the HFC to easily remove him anyway.
