I wonder if LeBatard is in the midst of an existential/mid life crisis.

Skipper's gone.

Simmons and Jamelle Hill get fired for saying consequential things

He's getting married

His pops ain't getting any younger

His two brainy friends (Bomani and Pablo) are doing a show together

He's trying to dip his toe in the podcasting content game

He's likely alienated by sports, particularly the business of it

His company won't allow him to speak about socio-political stuff

And now it's the dog days of summer.

Just feel like he's trying too hard.

One of these is not like the other. Simmons got the axe because he was using his platform to shyt on a TV partners head guy after repeatedly being told not to do so and openly calling his higher ups out on it while continuing to do so. Guy thought Grantland and 30 for 30s gave him a shield

Jemele got 3 chances. She wanted to get away.

Espn workers cant allowed to talk about political shyt no more...

Dan wasn’t talking politics

This cokehead got another big time job :mjlol:

And the dude tweeting is a clown

Too true. I just went to a big work meeting where I was the only non-VP or Director in the room. Out of 15 people 1 other black man. Just randomly it would hit me how more than half the people in there are supporting that piece of shyt. and probably hating me off rip. Hard to keep a polite demeanor thinking that.

You’re not in the opinion business. Y’all should have no reason to talk about any of this stuff on the workplace

Dan has been a journalist for decades. You can’t tell a journalist to report on things with the bottom line of the company in mind

I work for the Feds and somehow, some way, shyt that’s happening in the political realm that not even indirectly affecting us, somehow comes up whether it’s in random conversations or meetings. It infiltrates every aspect of our everyday lives. Maybe not where you work in the hierarchy of The grill at McDonalds. And again, Disney will be alright from this. As much as folks say they’ll boycott Nike or ESPN , where else will they go for their sports fix??

You ever worked around a bunch of highly paid white folks. There is always those one or two that will bring the shyt up out of nowhere or make comments. Between them and clients bringing that shyt up. I've always stayed away from discussing politics myself and will tell them as much but doesn't change the fact of knowing where these dudes stand and trying not to cuss them out or flip my shyt.

Yeah, the Simmons thing is all kinds of different. I remember he was on the show calling Goodell an incompetent liar and literally daring someone at ESPN to do something.

He was utterly convinced that Grantland was a runaway hit, and didn't understand that while 30 for 30 may have been career defining level work for him, that shyt was just another piece of ESPN's legacy that they really didn't need him around for once they completed the first wave.
