Why is Dan on such a crusade to put Lebron over Jordan?

Seems like he does what ever he can to slight Jordan in favor of Lebron w/ out proper context. It’s only what Lebron has done over Jordan never the other way around.

Asking Stu has Jordan ever won a game with a 3 going to his left. What?

Today talking about Jordan never won at the end, knowing Stu was talking about the Bulls streaks.

Why don’t they ever check him? Seems like it would be pretty easy come back every time.
Lmao right I’m listening like you know damn well stu wasn’t talking about the 39/40 year old MJ days

I honestly think Dan feels indebted to Bron cause he made the Heat matter like never before. He didn't speak of Bron this way until he was wit the Heat and afterwards.

He's always on a crusade to get old rappers to talk about how much they hate current rap and agree that Kendrick is the greatest.

I never understand why they don't check Dan on his horrible sports take.

Also Im tired of Stugotz derailing every local hour convo by saying the Heat are going to sign every one this summer

I think it's because he views Lebron the same way he does Rodgers. "Best he's ever seen" so he finds some way to always argue and push him in debates.

Well he’s full of shyt. Cause the slightest bit of context shoots his argument down. That’s why it’s always, jab at Jordan then move on.

Only explanation I've got is that Dan resents Jordan for sending Oak to call on Dan's girlfriend years ago :dead:

Ever since I've listened to the show (since 2010) Dan is always using or finding any stat or play to either downplay what Jordan did or put LeBron over him.

What does that mean? Him and Jordan aren’t the same type of player.

Maybe magic or bird or a player like that.

That’s my point. He don’t bring up teams MJ faced vs teams Lebron faces in the first rounds/playoffs.

I think we got the answer, Dan mad MJ tried to steal his girl.

I don't know if that's it cause he never disparaged MJ before came to the Heat. I've been listening to this show for a long time.

he's been that way for a few years now. part of it is, he has this thing where he HAS to be right. its very important for him. even when presented with counter facts. He finally got Zach Lowe to say Lebron was the best he'd ever seen after years of trying to get him to say he was better than Jordan.

I had a back and forth with him on twitter some years ago about Jordan. he kept trying to say Jordan wouldn't have been as good because of the "bigger, faster, stronger" thing he been saying forever. even after I brought up Jordan's #s at age 39/40 being comparable to the top SGs in 2003 that were in their prime. he brought up fg%, I was like, He was 40! on bum knees :heh: and did you see the fg% of the other top Sgs at that time? cuz none of them shot "great"

then he brings up the 100 meter dash and how the times of today are so much faster. I'm like, what does that have to do with basketball? and no individual sport cares about a 100 time, THEY USE THE 40! Jordan ran like a 4.4 40! and had a higher vert than Vince Carter.

I was surprised he kept going tbh. his "arguments" are silly tho. athletes like Jordan, Deion Sanders could play and be elite athletes in ANY era.

.

That's the thing that always bothered me that NO ONE brought up to Dan.

Dan's point is that athletes from the past are just that, from the past, so any current great athlete is better because people and the sport evolve (so does technology for injuries and preparation, we never hear LeBatard talk about that but whatever) and if you take a guy playing from the 60's, 70's,80's and 90's and just make him play in today's game without any context or preparation - just playing and being the same as he was during his time - he wouldn't be as effective....like, no fukking shyt :heh: it's just a nothing argument. I was always baffled by it, specially coming from someone like LeBatard that likes to go waaay deeper than that kind of simplistic analysis. At this point I don't even bother anymore when it comes up and either fast forward the segment or just don't pay any attention to it.

He has so many smart guys around him and no one has ever even suggested that hey, if an elite athlete would have the same conditions as someone from today, he would adapt and be fukking elite at it because what made them great was their drive to be great and they would reach that level anyways.

I remember Dan clowning Bill Russel talking about his height, physique and being a dominant center and how he would be just another guy in today's game....when we had Draymond Green being a force on the Warriors while being fukking shorter than Russell. If a dude like Bill would play in today's day and age, he would be a fukking freak that would have Dan questioning humanity and shyt like he loves to do :pachaha:

"Michael Jordan never shot threes like this!". Well if Jordan figured out that for him to win, dominate and crush his competition and doubters he had to shoot and make more threes, he would fukking train until he became an elite three point shooter. MJ was insane enough to stay up for days trying to be better at fukking ping pong and I'm supposed to believe the three point line would be his demise as an all time great :mjlol:

I think the closest to "yeah I was wrong about this" Dan has ever come regarding this subject was when Bomani was still a regular guest and the Rice vs Moss comparison was thrown out. LeBatard went to his usual "but I never saw anyone do the things Moss did, Rice wasn't as fast, had better QBs etc..." then they read a text from a fan detailing Rice's stats with different QBs, comparing their stats to what Moss did with his QBs and a number of.other stuff that made it clear how Rice was just better or at the very least how Moss wasn't this incomparable athlete.. There was a long pause and Bomani just said "yeah that kinda settles it" and they went to a break :dead:

I remember the moss vs rice thing. I was happy when they read that email, cause I would be in my car saying back to the radio that Rice was putting up numbers with Steve Bono and Elvis Garbac! lol the information in that email has been posted on here as well.

the thing about jordan and 3s is silly also. no one with a brain and unbiased opinion would actually think that if Jordan played in todays game, he wouldn't be a good 3 point shooter. a shooting guard that shot 50% from the field for his career and 84% from the free throw line. you have guys like paul milsap go from shooting 39 total threes and making 33% in 2013 to 212 and making 36% in 2014. like its common sense.
